Gaming Haze

Haze has had a rocky road and a history dotted with delays and rumours of cancelled ports. Now though, the game is finally here for the PS3 - can the makers of Time Splitters pull another stunner out of their hats, or is this one FPS that got lost in the fog?

 

Hear that? That is the sound of 100,000 PS3 fanboys crying out, and then being suddenly silenced.

 

Far cry from the Haze preview Joe did a little while ago, I wonder where it all went wrong.

Edit: Just re-read the preview. Most of it fits exactly with the review, just with a more positive spin, but the page on graphics could be a different game.

Did anything listed from this page make it into the final game?

 

It kind of looks like it just hadn't been improved since then maybe. Cracks and problems that may be acceptable in an Alpha version haven't been patched and the story just doesn't flow well from level to level by the sound of things. It's a real shame because I had a lot of fun previewing the game and thought it was going to go on to be a real must-have. Obviously, from what Andy says, that hasn't happened.

 

For whatever reason, it feels as though the game is only part finished. Certain bits, like the flamethrower animation, feel as though they're just placeholders for a final proper animation.

We'll probably never know whether this is the case or if Ubi got bored of the delays and decided to publish anyway (although why they'd do that is beyond me) - but that's certainly the way it feels to me. Pure conjecture, of course - this might have been the game that FRD wanted to publish and that they're very happy with the end result...

Besides, 5/10 is an average game. It's not dire, but conversely it's not great. It's just another run-of-the-mill shooter.

 

Dissapointing news for those (like me) looking for a reason to justify getting a PS3.

 

In 3 weeks time you'll have that chance again

 

I was loving the preview for this, and was thinking it could be the game to stear me to a into console ownership

well that sucks. i too was looking at this game as another reason to buy into ps3.

 

I was just looking forward to a decent FPS, shame really

Ah well, plenty more games to play

 

Might buy it when it hits the bargain prices (which from the sounds of it won't be too long...) but, of course, there are too many other things that will suck my time away, so maybe not...

MGS4. i'm actually not that bothered :S

 

I don't think all that many people are except the hardcore series fans and Kotaku readers. To me it looks like pretentious pseudo-****, which as we all know is the worst type of ****.

Certainly won't be making me buy a PS3 again.

But then, I'm pretty sure everyone knew it was going to suck from the get-go, really. From the hype alone. The more hype, the more the game sucks.

 

But it's pretentious, and that makes them better than us on a religious level of ******y.

 

Every Time I see a picture of the bloke from MGS, It reminds me of Jimmy Hill in a Bandana.

How old's he supposed to be - Harrison Ford's age? Older?

 

He nots really meant to be that old but if you had played the mgs series and watched the preview trailers you learn hes actually ageing allot faster because his body is shutting down and I saw in a preview, snake being told he has about 6months to live.

Hes prob in his 40's but his body is simply ageing faster than normal making him appear much "older" than he really is. I guess he has the body of a 60 year old + but is about 40-ish.

Also by the sounds of it, you dont seem to have ever played the metal gear series....shame on you!! its like one of the few reasons to buy a sony product...even though its made by Kanomi
