I've just rebooted my PC to the wonderful message: "It appears that one of the drives in your raid array has failed.. *snip*" Well. The really weird thing is that it says the remaining functional drive on the array is the secondary drive (I run mirrored) yet both drives detect and will boot individually on each raid channel. This just strikes me as odd. not never having ever had an issue with raid at this stage I really dont know what to do. All my data is on both drives it appears along with my OS, Ive replaced both IDE cables with no joy and im really stuck with what to do next. Can anyone help me please?
Mirrored so.. umm.. 1 Anyhow. I think i've managed to fix it for now. Turns out that one of the drives stopped reading/writing data as the PC was shut down so the drive contents being different the PC thought the drive had failed. I re-built the array from one drive to the other and it seems to be ok now. Also as it happens, I found out that one of my drives I accidently put on an ATA33 cable and the other on an ata133 cable!!! Since I've re-built the array and changed the cables things are a little faster/quieter too
