Anyone here can suggest a few FREE hdd health/status test checking programs/applications please? Much obliged
Any ideas what the two yellow markers indicate the problem with this drive please? AND, is this a serious problem that I need to replace this drive?
It means that they are areas in your HDD that are busted, or the SATA cable it. Change SATA cable, and in HD Tune, go under "Error Scan", and click on Start. If it gets stuck or show red blocks, that means its broken.
Thanks for the suggestions, okay, so yeah, HD Tune seemed to have found quite a bit of bad sectors on this drive, and since going to bed late last night I left my PC doing a Windows scandisk with fix enabled. When I got up earlier today, I found the drive had crashed and was unable to boot up easily/properly after rebooting the PC, so yeah, drive is pretty much useless... Okay rant over and thanks Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
If you have any data on this drive that is not backed up please make a copy as soon as possible, it is hard to say when the drive will stop working completely.
Fortunately I just it bought from someone on the trade forum here and so no data lost Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
