What do you mean, sub-hifi? They're DJ headphones! Everyone knows that DJ headphones have more BASS than regular headphones. Come on, it's SONY. Everyone knows that SONY is hifi. Nobody's ever heard of Grado. They're probably a cheap chinese knock-off of SONY.

ah, i am taken back to when was ten years old, when i once told someone 'who's heard of denon? they're rubbish'

mate, if you have no fins, don't swim with sharks. you just made a boo boo.

saying that grado is a cheap chinese ripoff of sony is like saying bentleys are a cheap chinese ripoff of KIA.

You know that you're good at sarcasm when not everyone picks up on it.

I  Grado. I've met John Grado. I used to use Grado cans until I went to electrostatics.

    Audio-Technica ATH-SJ5 Portable Headphones

I do have to ask... what would be an example of non-portable headphones?

Huge open backed cans that don't close up or go flat.

    WTF are those?!?
    Those ARE speakers... lol

You'll brake your neck, like people did with the Nintendo virtual Boy (remember that?)

I know that Electrostatic headphone are not portable, as they require an additional amplifier... (more power needed). Did anyone tried those?! I sure did at a professional audio shop, when you get back home, you feel that your speakers sucks like hell or that something is wrong with them. The sound is truly **** amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

For 1000-5000$ US they are worth it :)

Never used them, but know several people who have. They're light for the size.

I own a pair of electrostatic headphones, and they are very very nice.

Dude being from the UK you'll almost certainly know as well as the rest of us that when the term "budget" is used without a figure being listed nearby it means cheap. Budget headphones, budget flights, budget whatever. It's a polite way of saying cheap is all.

Not really bass - actually a lot of crap 'DJ' Headphones have poor bass. It doesn't really extend really low, just enough to hear the beats so it is easy to keep in time with the music without having to kill your hearing.

If they are anything like the XD100 they are ass. I bought some XD100's for a steal off someone and they are poor (the headphones, not the person i bought them from lol). They have bass but its boomy and horrible. Good headphones are about quality not quantity.

I concur! These are great 'phones for the price. Despite being portable, i think these would do fine for listening to music at home, etc. Tonnes of bass without being too boomy, and fairly clear treble. They lack a bit in the midrange but i sort of like it that way - others may think differently. You could use them for gaming, though i would use the sound cards equaliser to make the midrange a bit louder so you can hear footsteps etc better ;). These easily sound better then a lot of cheap DJ headphones / Cans.
