Lo all, ive come across a minor dilema in my life. I need a new set of headphones. My problem is that im not the richest person in the world, im lazy and i tend to break headphones alot Ive narrowed my search down to two pairs (because ther in argos) im no audiophile so i don't know which would best suite my needs (gaming and mp3s). They are plantronics Audio 60's or wharfdale something an others. I'm getting one of these 2 today, and im not incredibly worried about it but i want some sort of opinion, thanx
Ugh - trash! Please reconsider! What's your budget? (you probably need one of those mic thingies though? )
My budget aint much, i don't like spending money, i'm a poor student There really aint much point in me getting decent headphones though, i seem to break them too eeasily, i LAN alot. Just wondering which is the best of the 2.
Arggggghhhhhhh NOT ARGOUS!!!! try these on for size, quite possibly the best pair of headdies i have ever bought. Sennheiser It will be the best amount of cash you have ever spent. I have a pair they rock.
My headphones usually get broken in transit or by some idiot knocking them off my seat and standing on them or by someone in my family closing the compter desk on the lead and chopping it in half etc. Yeah Sennheisers rule, if i was going for a decent priced pair i think i'd go for them I think i'd prefer the mic standalone, i dont use it as much as i used to. That sorta sways me towards a set of full cup cans
Hmm... <$50 Koss Portapro Koss KSC-50 Koss KSC-35 Sennheiser PX100 Sennheiser HD212 <$100 Sennheiser HD280 Grado SR-60 Sennheiser HD497 Sony MDR-V6 Sony MDR-CD780 Audio Technica ATH-A500 Grado MS-1 <$200 Audio Technica ATH-A900 Grado SR-225 Sennheiser HD580 AKG K271S AKG K501 Sennheiser HD555 <$500 Sennheiser HD650 Grado MS-2 Sony MDR-CD3000 Stax SRS-2020 Audio Technica ATH-W1000 <$1000 Grado MS-Pro Grado RS-1 Grado HP-1 AKG K1000 Stax SRS-3030 >$1000 Sony MDR-R10 Stax Omega II / KGSS Audio Technica ATH-L3000 Grado PS-1 Specify which category you want and I can give you detailed descriptions, places to buy, and price. Edit: I forgot to list canalphones. I don't know much about them. Range from $80 to $500.
Bionetics (Those are the egg-shaped headphones from Sennheiser, including HD200, EH2200, EH2700, HD570, etc.) aren't very good. Comfy, light, but they are harsh in the treble and the bass is sloppy. HD280, HD497, V6, and SR-60 are all better than HD200 for around the same price.
I'm sure this is true if you try to hammer the music out on them straight away, as with all my speakers i buy i ran these in for about 3 weeks of nearly solid music playing, of all different genres. There is no distortion or sloppiness what-so-ever. I find it hard to belive what you claim to have heard from the Bionetics.
Compared to the earphones that came with a Coby cd player, they must be amazing, for $20 they would be good, but not for what they cost. HD280s are much better than HD200, for not much more. Of course, I can't say i've heard either. I'm just repeating what others have told me. The design of the EH2200 appealed to me, I went in search of more info and people highly reccomended I get something else, most reccomended HD280s. I ended up getting the V6. Of course, if you like the Bionetics, that's great. But don't compare them to HD280s, Grado SR-60, or Sony V6 because then you won't like Bionetics any more.
Good canalphones aint cheap, but here is a breakdown of some good ones Etymotec E*4 series Sure E2C's Sure E3's Sure E4C's The shure E2C's are a great balance between good sound and decent price at around $80, quite a good fit and good sound
Don't forget the ~$130 Ety ER-6. Canalphones are very similar to electrostatic ones. They use a balanced armature driver. People have said that ER-4 + iPod (Cost: Under $800) is an excellent combo, sound very similar to the Stax Omega II + KGSS (Cost: $3500, does not include a source)
