    i have a similar style case in progress... not custom made though... an microatx(or even flex???) enlight case(1x5,25, 1x external 3,5, 2x internal 3,5(vertical). so, just wanted to report...i thought of it myself and if i reveal it someday, u all know, it aint a ripoff =))))))))


    and cameron...sry for thread hijacking..u have magnificent ideas ;) wtg :)

    I have use my hard drives verticaly with no apparnet side effects, but those HDs are about 3-4 years old! Have not tried it with my new drive (and don't plan on it) :D

    i ran my old quantum 4gig hard drive vertically for about 4 years...no i have a samsung 40gig 7200rpm drive and it is running vertically also.. that's because, my case has only a vertical hd bay...so iguess, it shouldnt matter...of course if you dont shake etc the case while it's up and running...

    i like slim...making a cube just blows everything way too big for my liking...though linear's cube is very nice.. =]

    many of those slim towers and micro pcs have the hard drive mounted vertically, I don't think it's much of a problem. The drive in the computer I build for my Mom has been running vertically (on it's side, actually) for a few months without incident.

    my ****ty DELL comp had its drive mounted vertically, and my WD 120 GB SE was mounted vertically when i swapped them out. no problems.

    in regaurds to the Rod joining....


    of course if you drilled a hole down teh center of that rod and put EL in it, you could have a supa sweet lighting effect goin on....

    I'm considering doing this with my case, which is still in early design phase right now....
