Hello all. I am Dave- Long time lurker, first time poster.
Thought I may as well register and share my latest mod, and showcase my errr... case.
My hardware is nowt special, but like most of you, it's still a WIP.

So a few years ago I got Lian-Li PC 7 which was GIVEN to me for free, but it was a bit of a state see below.

So I put the guts of my old PC into it and went along like that for a while.
When the mobo died I bought a cheapo AM2+ bundle and kinda cought the hardware bug.
Since then Ive added some new bezels, popped a cathode in there, cut wire management holes and a show hole for my reasonably priced PSU.
Taking it to looking like this...

Opened up the rear fan grill with the dremmel

Back in September I picked up a Lamptron FC6 , and have been very happy with it,
just kept seeing the eyesore that the alu-brushing was against the grain of my case.

So I took it out of the case, and removed the faceplate (4x socket cap screws on the faceplate) and cracked out the sandpaper.
Using 120g and some 400g DRY paper, a
    solid sanding block (not soft),
a block of wood wrapped in masking tape- sticky side out
I stuck the back of the faceplate to the wood, and the wood to my kitchen floor.
Starting with the 120g on the sanding block making slow firm movements in one direction, I started to change the direction of the grain.
After the block, I then sanded by hand to scratch the minor recesses before moving onto the 400g and repeating the above.

When all was done I got this

As you can see, the aluminium colour isnt a perfect match, BUT atleast now I can look at it and not cringe.
I now have plans to use a spare vented bezel (as shown) to make a new housing for the FC6 guts, but thats for another morning.

    Heres to my first post!
    Cya around!

Looks great man, just a simple change in brushing direction and getting rid of the logo has really improved the whole look. I wish someone would give me a Lian Li for free :hehe:

Oh and welcome to Bit Tech!

That looks awesome mate. How are you finding the FC6? Not just looks, but performance etc? I'm on the lookout for a new fan controller and this is an option, so just wanted some feedback on it.

Next mod, spray it all black!!! :thumb:

Im sticking with the silver for now mate.
I do like the all black thing, but its been done.
Its easier to leave a silver case as it is to stand out these days :D

The FC6 is great, like I said, Ive been really happy with it.
Temp readouts are reliable and refresh every second (or there abouts)
Only 2 flaws would be limited viewing angle and HIGHLY sensitive fan control. But yeah, its a cracker.
