..and we have the biggest heads in the world. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_595315.html?menu=news.latestheadlines Ok, I know the Matrix films rock, but isn't claiming the fact that they're making effects that will never be seen again, a *little* bit arrogant? Given the fact I can do with a home PC what could only be dreamed of 15, even 10 years ago in films.. back to the real world guys. You'll be seeing your effects in cheesy adverts soon enough
Hmmmmm... Well if there talking about the stop-motion-spin-around-thingy then they're wrong. About 1.5-2 years before the Matrix came out i remember seeing that exact same effect in a music video on MTV. Granted it wasn't as good (kinda like a servere case of 56k-Lag in Counter Strike) but THAT was the first time i saw it and on first seeing of the Matrix it immediatly made me think of that music video. Errr...cant remember what music video it was, but im sure it'll come back to me.
i agree totally kna... the idea that no one will copy them because they're extremely expensive and exotic is madness.... the next movie that comes along with a big budget and they'll get it too. unrealistc claims really
Not exaclty. The effect NuTech speaks of did appear in a rock video or two a while ago, but a that wasn't bullet-time. It was linear and a lot rougher and used no image extrapolation. However bullet-time (as they called it ) as it's currently known did appear in films before the matrix. One of which being Wing Commander It was just seen at it's best in The Matrix. The so expensive SFX that it cant be copied is concievable, but unlikely.
On another note, i also heard they're adding another 200+ frames to the spinny-roundy-thingy-effect. Should make it really smooth. (please someone inform me of the technical name ) Anyway, anyone know what these 'super-expensive' effects will be? or will they just be an improvement on pervious effects (as i just stated)? One last thing, anyone here have any idea what there budjet is for matrix 2 and 3? Ps: is it true that they will be releasing the two movies really close together? just another rumour i heard.
The people who worked on the Matrix named it 'Bullet-time photography' even though they didn't invent it. as for the adding another 200+ frames. Film only runs at 25FPS, so unless they simply plan on extending the screen time if it, that's a bull rumour.
Yes film does run @ 25fps (give or take a frame depending on what country your in) but when i said adding frames i was talking about the still cameras they have to use to make the freeze-motion thing (case you dont know - sorry if you do - those scenes are made by aranging lots of still cameras in a circle and making them flash at once). I was told that they were adding 200+ cameras (hence frames) to the scenes to bring up the frame count to something smoother. I dont think that the original movie had 25 cameras per second because i remember watching a documentary on the making of the Matrix which showed the setup of the cameras, and there definatly wasn't 75ish cameras there (the freeze motion scenes were about 3 seconds long so 25fps*3seconds= 75 cameras). Anyway, someone correct me if i am wrong.
Best sceen! Lads it has to be handed to the Wachowski bros for that brill sceen in Bound!!! Gina Gerson & Jennifer Tilly Yummy Yummy!
Re: Best sceen! I should bleedin coco! Ah yeah, i remember now. Billy Zane's the rookie who goes through the whole movie letting everyone think he shot a guy with a rifle from a moving helo. Completely random and superflous plot point there
