Windows Help ASAP new build, old hdd

    Need help, I have just built a i5 system, I want to be able to use my hard drive out of my core2 system, put it in starts working to the point where windows starts up and get blue screen of death any ideas
    Was I a system of
    Core2duo e8400
    8gb 1066ddr2
    Asus p5qse

    Now
    I5 2500k
    8gb 1600ddr3
    Asus Maximus 4gene z

    Help needed ASAP thanks in advanced

    You need to do a clean install of the OS dude, making sure to set the sata controllers to ACHI mode in the bios. If you have files on the HDD you want to save, then hook it to another pc or laptop/ external HDD and transfer the files over, then you can transfer them back once you are done setting up the new build.

    Reason for BSOD is likely all the old drivers for your previous hardware don't like the new hardware, kinda hard to work around unless you can clean them out in safemode, then install all the new drivers from the discs that come with the new mobo...

    Se my sata controller to Achi and loaded it up with crossed fingers it worked! Mint! Happy year cheers for the advice anyways
