What is the easiest way tot uniformly bend thick metal? So far, I have been clamping angled aluminum on the top and bottom of the metal along where I want to bend, then apply pressure with annother piece of angled aluminum. This has been done with 1mm alu and works fine, however now im working with 2mm of what I am pretty sure is a type of steel. This is really strong in comparison, and Im not sure the above methood will work that well. I could take it to a sheet metal bender at school, but because of the way I have everyhing, the bender wont work. So, does anyone have any Ideas?
Yeah, but using a torch is the last resort. My time in the shop is limited, and I have other things I want to work on, but if there is no other easy way, Thats what i will do
if its a small peice and thin thickness you should be able to vice it and then hammer it at an angle with a piece of wood and the hammer
if all you need is just a few simple straight line bends, then go to a local machine shop or fabricator. they should have sheet metal bender that they can use to make you bends for a nominal feel
