Hi all, I could do with some help on a circuit as i can solder and everything but desgining circuit is out of my league.

Basically, Ive got a Tri-Colour Fan, what I want to do is replace each of the three LEDs with RGB LEDs, then create a circuit that will chase the colours around the fan at a gentle speed.
I.E, one LED will be on Red, the other on Green and the last on Blue, then for the to chase.

    Can anyone help.

Also, I want to do the HDD window mod, but am worried about the static build up from the acrylic window, is this a problem and is so can any sort of earth by made.

    Thanks
    Rusty Mods  :brrr: :wallbash:

    1. Macro made a Rainbow LED circuit. You'd have to recreate this twice more, the only modification I see that you'd need to do is simply change which pins on IC2 the different LED elements go. (i.e. the first would look just like the circuit on the page, GRB, while the second would go BGR, then the third would be RBG, creating an offset between the three LEDs. Of course, you can play with the order).

    2. Um....I don't think acryllic can build up static charges. You'll have to worry about storing the drive while you're messing with it's shell though, so an antistatic bag, thoroughly cleaned out then sealed fairly tight, should do, although some people said they used ordinary Ziploc bags.

Note: never do a HD mod on a new, valuable drive.

Yeah but will they chase each other or does the circuit need to be re-designed

You could use the same circuit but you'd have to wire up the LED's differently:

    OUT R G B
    LED1 R G B
    LED2 G B R
    LED3 B R G

Obviously you need to have separate resistors on each LED.

arrr, I read ya, thanks Steve.

Is the Bit-Tech Rainbow curcuit http://www.bit-tech.net/article/92 capable of running 3 LED on one circuit, or will it need more power
