Can anyone recommend a 32" TV for under £500?

It'll mainly be used for playing Games on a PS3 and Xbox 360, and watching DVDs and Blu-Rays.

It's for a mate, and he's been looking at Sony Bravia TVs.. but all the series are confusing.. there's the U, and the S, and the P.. and I don't know which is the one to go for..

Any other brands worth recommending? LG? Toshiba? No need for 1080p, since it's just 32".. In terms of connectivity, a couple of HDMIs would be good, plus possibly a VGA if he wants to plug in his laptop..

    So, any ideas?

Try Dixons - I've just bought a 5 series 40" Samsung 1080p LCD TV from there for just under £600. Just taken a look and a 5 series 1080p Samsung (LE32A556P) is £501.

I test cable TV software for the US market and all of our reference TVs are Samsung. Even bought a Samsung for my lady/wife Marilyn but it's a lot bigger and not in this price range. The colors are extra sharp when adjusted properly for the watching room.

Defo buy a panasonic 32. A viera can be had quite cheaply at the mo, and they make very durable tv's, hence they are typlically allot more expensive, but at the moment you can get them cheap. Samsung, for the bling, and Sonyfor the name, but panasonic for a the best lcd tv IMO! :) All three makes are good. Sony being the least these days sadly due to quality being poor recently.

He got a 32" Panasonic Viera.. Which only one of you suggested. :p

Thanks for your help anyway.. The Viera was what I had recommended to him in the first place because my dad has one, and it's a great TV.. A lot of Samsungs have been recommended though.. If I ever intend to get a TV to replace the 24" Monitor I'm using at the minute.. the Samsung is what I'll probably be looking at, given how many people recommended them.
