Okay, I'm fed up of using my current PC in its current location (main study). I want to move it to my room, which is 2 further rooms down the hallway. The problem is that the broadband cable connection is drilled into the main study, so I wouldn't be able to get internet :wallbash: .

Now, I do have a Linksys wireless router in the main study, so I was thinking of moving my PC to my room, and installing a PCI wireless card and use -G wifi. Thing is, I'm worried about the speed of the wireless connection. I do a lot of downloading, and I play CS and the like online, and my parents use their laptops often to access the net. Will the network get saturated? (my broadband is 1mbits if that helps)

I'm wondering if this setup a good idea - I mean would my connection slow down noticably?

bad idea, espcially as you said you download alot and play CS, although there are some routers that do 108mb wireless. Thats if you were willing to by a new router.

You are quite likely to get at least 1mbps connection speed on the wireless. If you have a 2mbps connection on the wireless, its still faster.

I personally dont reccomend gaming over wireless due tothe increased latency. But if you have no choice you can do so. Increasing your speed to 108mbps wont do anything!

Although in your router you could sacrifice range for speed if you do file transfers, or vice versa for stability.

Thanks for the replies guys, though MrWillaWonka, I have been using wireless for a while, but haven't noticed how I could
Oh yeah, some guy had a similar problem and fired a mail to customPC, and they didn't recommend it :/

Gaming over wireless is going to add quite a milliseconds to your latency for gaming.
Downloading and general web surfing should not suffer in the least, as stated, not even if you do 2mbit (even 1mbit would be fine, as that is the same as the net connection you have.)
