goddamn its confusing these days. im looking for an intel mobo, not too fussed about features, except i need a good overclocker. theres so many intel boards to choose from, and im completely stuck. my 3 criteria 1. needs to be a good clocker 2. preferably around the 80 quid mark 3. no dog wee mixed with poo brown/yellow pcb currently im looking at abits p35 board, evga's 650i and an asus p35 board also, but i need some clarity cheers, iggy
Budget? The Asus P5K in its various guises is a cracking board. I'm getting the P5K3 Deluxe Wi-Fi AP version meself when Intel CPU prices drop next month I know a guy on another forum who has that very board, and he's managed some very respectable clocks on it with his C2D
abit's IP35 Pro seems to be getting good feedback but it's £120. IP35 is essentially similar & is £90 with the basic (e.g. no RAID) IP35-E at £70. The 965 based QuadGT is also an excellent mobo ~£100. P5K seems a good board but the 1 at your price level is an unappealing PCB colour. Gigabyte P35 DS3r or DS3P perhaps? Even though I've got 1 I wouldn't recommend an Asus P5N-E SLI to anyone - it just seems to me that they shaved a few corners & it shows..
from what im gradually piecing together, it looks like i might be better aiming around the 120ish mark. probably either the abit p35 or the asus equivalent. i dont think ive ever seen such a confusing slew of different motherboards tbh, been on amd a while and sites seem to have stopped bothering with the handy 'roundup' style reviews that i so love for ease of choice edit; bargain? or just ebuyer cocking up their descriptions as per usual. its a good 20 quid cheaper than elsewhere ;o
