I have an LCD and I can,t seem to find it in the lcd faq and I have found its driver's data sheet easily it is a Maxim ICL7107 and the data sheet is found at http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/arpdf/ICL7106-ICL7107.pdf.

What I can't find is how to interface it to my pc or if i even can. Does anybody know the hardware/software needed to interface this?

well.. the ICL7107 is a A/D converter with a built in display driver.. the ICL7106 is for LCD's while ICL7107 is for LED displays.... what this thing does is that it get analog (variable voltages) signal on the input(s) and makes a number out of this.. it is not made to communicate with a computer.. it's made to drive 7 seg displays (LED or LCD).. like those on calculators.. (the cheap ones)...

some cheap DMM's uses those... you COULD use a analog output (is there any on a comp??) and make some software... but this can only show 3,5 numbers and no letters.. so i doubt it's what you are looking for..

I did make a thermometer using a ICL7107... it's in my comp. now.. i fryed the IC so i need to get a new one though..

I rialise it says that that chip is for driving led segment displays but i have a display that is not one of those it is an lcd. And it definetly was the chip drving it before.

And if it only shows numbers I dont care caus all I want it for is to tell me my cpu temp from the built in temp sensor.

what do you actually mean with "buildt in temp sensor"? do you mean the one on the mobo or one that is fitted between the cpu and the cooler?
