Mk808b? That should do everything either with the stock Android or with another os instead. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
Well since Amazon hasn't managed to offer the AFTV during "Cyber Week", the "new" AFTV having problems with KODI (no/flaky audio), and the old AFTV beeing sold used for more than they were new (at least here in Germany) I've.... Ordered a Pi 2! Some tinkering may occur God I hope it works smoothly and quickly, my wife has run out of patience
what exactely did you find didn't work on the WD TV live player? I had one a while back before i converted my old rig into an XBMC centre and it worked fine, bit slow from time to time but worked, played blu-rays perfectly well the only down side of it was that it was slow when flicking through the interface. VERY rarely had any issue playing any file formats.
German Amazon, not co.uk Anyway, the Pi arrived yesterday, and I spent more time fiddling with the tiny screws that came with the case than with the softwaresetup. Write iso to SD-card, insert, 10 sec setup, reboot (seconds), select network drive in Kodi, play first movie. No five minutes worth. Amazing AND it works with my TV-remote control Only thing it lacks is an "on" button. Very Chuffed
You can wire a reset switch to the pads marked "on" (just above the SD slot). If the Pi has been shutdown, shorting these two pins with momentary on switch will turn the Pi on.
Ah, yes there's a way to that with the GPIO-pins as well appearently, I'll look in to it. It powers down nicely in Kodi but we then have to get behind the TV to replug the lead, which is impractical
Hmjaaa this should work, however, this is supposed to be a "Reset" switch, means if it is pushed while the device is on it will do a hard reset, which isn't too good for the SD-card. I'll test the GPIO pin 5-6 option, shouldn't do anything while the device is on, but start it from off. Thank you for the quick reply anyway!
I thought the GPIO method was used together with a shell/Python script to shut the Pi down cleanly when pressed. I didn't think that it started the Pi as well? And yes, the reset switch will do a hard reset, which you're right is bad for the SD card, but if the Pi is behind the TV then surely it's away from curious fingers which might "accidentally" press it?
I've left my pi on for years now with just the occasional restart, they don't use enough electricity to have much of a noticeable effect on your bill, plus you don't have to keep waiting for it to load up when you want to watch a film. just mount it to the back of the TV set it up and forget about it.
It's what some websites say...I can shut it down properly with Kodi / Remote Control. Yeah, It actually uses so little power my wall-plug power meter doesn't really recogise it, It uses less power running than my TV does in standby
