Ok, it's currently 3:12AM. I just finished watching the korea vs greece match etc. and I CAN"T ****ing SLEEP GODDAMNIT, it's so annoying. Thi s is because I recently returned from UK (on Saturday actually), and on the night I played games with my mate and didn't sleep early (Sigh) and in doing so messed up my time zone even more. How messed up am I now ? you may ask, well let's just say I couldn't sleep on day until 2pm, past lunchtime the NEXT day, if it carries on like this I'll be living in another timezone and no way to fix it instead of my +8GMT in Hong KONG, WTF is all i have to say. This is the fourth night I haven't been able to sleep It's as if I have got that disease or illness whatever you call it insomnia or whatever where you can't sleep, this is the fourth night I haven't been able to sleep. So someone, PLEASE give me some sensible suggestions on how to make me sleep easier or whatever. I mean can i take panadol to make me sleep? (since it makes you feel sleepy) or will doing that have stupid side effects and **** me up anymore. ANY HELP IS EXTREMELY MUCH APPRECIATED......................
Drink beer, honestly, few cans puts me straight to sleep and its enjoyable. Failing that, hot milk, added horlicks? Or schedule your days better and work yourself down gradually.
How about stop posting crap & stop watching TV / videos etc. & just lie down in bed with the lights off, you'll soon fall asleep if you just relax & clear your mind.
I tried that last night, and the day before and etc. I have tried that for four hours flat instead you haven't realise, sigh...
sleeping pills. goto doctors and get. and take them with regular sleep patterns at proper times? seeing as nothing else is working for you
stay awake.... if you say you feel sleepy at 2pm, then you need to stay awake til a *normal* sleeptime.. drink coffee and excercise keeping yourself awake until 7pm ish.. the next night try 8pm and so on until you get back into your normal routine trying to go to sleep when your not tired is alot harder than staying awake when you are tired... i think... as long as you keep active
Yeah after I posted just then I decided to go to sleep, nope it didn't work so I'm doing exactly that, I'm going to go out and buy that damn motherboard I wanted to and drink like 20 cups of coffee and hope it works lol. EDIT: lol i think the topic title should be changed to ways of STAYING AWAKE , this is gonna be hard LoL
problem is that when your in bed "trying" tp sleep your windong yourself up i had insominia (yeah i now its an extreme example), and when i couldnt sleep, u used to just lie in bed, enjoying the comfort and not threating -just chill dont goto bed to sleep if ya know what i mean, just use it as a replacment for the sofa, just lie in the dark and think about what games or mods ur gonna do or just think about everyday life. just chill, the more you thret about sleeping the worse it gets. just lie in bed and enjoy it.
Stand in the hallway. and run full force , head first, against a wall. It should knock you out cold. If not, it will hurt and it will get harder to sleep... My suggestion: Stay up untill tomorrow evening. Then get a good sleep. U'll be right in schedule in no time. OR (this might be easier). Try and get some sleep. but pur your alarm clock up , pretty early. And wake up early. And at night, u will probably be tired and can go to sleep early. My dad has different shifts, and changes his schedule, weekly. He splits up his sleep, into 2 parts of 3 to 5 hours. good luck L
sstop whining... i havent had decent sleep in 3 years... damn hyponasal crap.... i sleep at 5:00 or so o' clock
A good two days without any sleep (Maybe a 2 hour nap) and then get a day that's free (Saturday or something) and get 16-20 hours of sleep. I do this sometimes, and it works awesome. I don't know if it's too healthy.. but eh, that shouldn't be an issue. (This probably isn't the best advice seeing as I sleep about 17 hours a day... )
I'm decided to stay awake since it was impossible to sleep and you now that horrible feeling of lying in bed with all the thoughts flying through your head and THINKING you're just about to doze off but no... btw LMAO run full force into a wall, good one
I'm currently on prescribed sleeping pills, and I still don't sleep like I should. Haven't had a good ol' lie-in for years, now. In fact... the best sleep I've had for a long time was whilst I was under general anaesthetic... Convincing the doctor that you NEED sleeping pills really isn't that easy. It took several periodic visits over a year just to convince him just to give me 14 pills (two weeks supply). They don't even bloody work that well! Each visit to the GP I had, he gave me a different method to try: Over the counter drugs - Nytol/Night Nurse. Meditation. Various breathing exercises. Lettuce.... LETTUCE! More exercise. None of those worked for me, but they may help you. Meditation, though you may think it's just for people who are Zen and all that palarva, is seriously good for relaxing... 30 minutes to an hour (or more) will definitely get you into a state of ULTRA-relaxation. Some may find that meditation isn't good for them, but you can get a very similar effect from listening to some relaxing music. Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Neurosis are my relaxation bands of choice - not too loud (mostly, if you select the right tracks!), but great for cutting yourself off from any other possible thought. Good pair of headphones helps, too! Try changing where in the house you sleep for a night, too... lie on the couch in the lounge, for example. Herbal Nytol is derived from Lettuce (or something similar..) which is known for it's sleep aiding properties. Try not to make a sandwich, but a few leaves of an iceberg with a smidge of olive oil might go down well with a hot mug of milk. Failing all of that, as has already been said - stay up until tomorrow night. Do plenty of exercise to pass the time. Go to bed at about 11/12pm, and set your alarm for 8am. That's more than enough sleep for the average person, and seeing as you've just started off a proper sleeping pattern, you should be alright for doing the same the following night. Hope it helps at least a little. Good luck. I love sleep.. I just cannae do it
Not really, dude. Got a packet of panadol extra, and all it is is Paracetamol cut with caffeine. T'isn't going to help you sleep at all... unless of course - you take a huge overdose and die. You'll sleep a long, long time then
NyQuil....seriously drink about 3-4 good mouthfuls (around 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottle) seriously...you'll be drunk/high as a kite, and in 30 minutes, no matter where you are, you will pass out.
well it's 10:37 now (btw thanks for the information and stuff THeo) im not struggling to stay away this time, had 3 MSG noodles and 3 coffes Btw i really don't understand how people like you Theo cope with not being able to sleep, when we people who can sleep do not for 3 days+ we die of exhaustion or something I dunno, but whta about you since you never feel "tired"? THat's very strange, VERY strange EDIT: also I tried relaxing as I learnt this in drama in school before, breathing in through the mouth and exhaling through the nose slowly did it for 15 minutes, felt relaxed but not sleepy :/. Also even at normal times my sleeping is good but it's just ... over the top I sleep on average 12 hours a day, I can't help it, i try alarm clocks, people phoning me, mom, TV, computer, 5 alarms whatever, doesn't wake me up ??? lol
Stay up as long as u can. And don't go to sleep till about 10 your regular time. Then sleep and wake up at like 7 or 8. this helps me reset my schedule if it gets fuxored.
Nah dude, I'm pretty much always tired - never wide awake, always yawning, never have energy, all that sort of stuff. It does send you bloody mental, though.. going to bed at a decent hour, taking an hour or so to get off to sleep, then waking up an hour later unable to sleep again. You get used to it, I suppose - I didn't used to be THIS bad, though I've always had minimal amounts of natural sleep over the last few years. You could compare it to how the army train soldiers to require less sleep (though I'm not particularly clued up on that). I usually get between 1 and 3 hours of sleep a day, 4 if I'm lucky. It's a right poohead, but it does mean that you can spend the other 20 hours in the day doing other stuff. -edit Always tired, never tired enough to sleep. My hair is in good condition, though...
