My shiny new iPad 2 arrived today. I've already got an iPhone and have installed the apps I used on there first, but have any fellow iPad users got some iPad specific suggestions? Games would be good too. Infinity Blade has rave reviews, anyone tried that? Please do not attempt to derail the thread into trolling.
Infinity Blade is good but it is repetitive! If you don't mind a bit of game grind then go for it. Otherwise you have games like 'World of Goo' the HD edition is optimised for iPad and you also now get the iPhone edition bundled in with the package. Another stand out game is Galaxy on Fire 2, kind of like Elite and certainly an outstanding spacey ship game. Think they do a Lite edition so give it a go. Real Racing 2 would be impressive on the iPad 2, very very capable game. Finally Rage HD, I absolutely love this game and you must play it with the motion control for full effect.
Thanks for the recommendations! I did like Diablo a lot, so if Infinity Blade requires some hack and slash, then I'm up for it.
Only problem is my fat finger is in the way of where I'm placing the goo! Any idea of a decent touch screen stylus for the iPhone? Be a pretty decent addition to play this game properly.
where did u get an ipad 2 from? also i have GTA china wars, Asphalt 5, fruit ninja, and of course angry birds
Just on a side note did you read about the 'Eye-tracking' technology a company is developing for the iPad2? The basic jist is that the front camera of the iPad 2 is used to track the position of your eyes and the screen display will adjust to give a realistic pseudo 3D effect. Looks really impressive, just hope they incorporate it in to a game some day.
There is an iPad magazine I think... think it's just called 'iPad' - saw it in Sainsburys the other day
you can subscribe to PCGamer and download digital editions of there mag for something like £20 for the year
Yeah I've got some issues already. Magazines look incredible on it, even without the Retina display, the screen is very vibrant and the viewing angles are great.
try taptu news reader, i have it on my android phone and plan on having it on my ipad as well when it arrives next week
Chaos Rings, you can pick up the original for pretty cheap now that Omega has come forth. I enjoy that a lot. Also, Shadow Era.
I'm currently playing Tiny Tower (haven't quite decided if its for me or the kids, but if you got kids, get this) and still playing Army of Darkness Endless level but can't get past 2.5million
old thread, but my ipad belonged to Flame696 when this thread was created, now that i've bought it, here are my essential apps: Flipboard, best app, use it all the time for twitter/FB/google reader and all my news reading Pulse, great RSS reader, use it for general RSS reading that is not very well formatted on Flipboard (eg, some feed require you to click "more", which doesn't work very well on Flipboard, since that's 1 more press) Tapatalk, not as good on ipad because it is just a blown up iphone version. but still makes forum experience a lot better (all ipad apps should have the Twitter app's interface) MyPad, all ipad apps should work like Twitter app, this facebook app is similar and works well for reading friend's messages (Flipboard is more for photo viewing and websites people share) Wacom Bamboo Paper, get it while it's free, fantastic notepad substitute, it's smart enough to still allow you to draw even if you accidentally rest your hand on the screen. Autodesk's free drawing program, can't remember its name, but great for use as a drawing pad AirPlayer, great as DLNA client, can stream pretty much any file format. TuneInRadio, well, it's radio, it works very well, and it's free (with ads) Games: Back to the Future episodes Tales of Monkey Island episodes Death Race (was free a few days ago, try and see if it's still free) Trainyard (not iPad version, but uses iPhone 4 graphics and works very well on iPad screen) been thinking about Plants vs Zombies, but on principle, i don't want to pay a third time for the same game. (already got PC version on its release, iphone version on its release however no survival mode, but ipad version is hand hold AND have survival mode.......) let me say this again: all ipad apps should use Twitter app's interface, (apart from Flipboard, that's also perfect) it's simply the best for feed-like reading. Facebook, Twitter, Tapartalk, BBC News, all would work great using that panel approach. in fact, pretty sure "con10uum" is the idea behing twitter's interface.
