hello tonight i installed my new radeon 9500 pro. this installation was over my nvidia drivers which i did get rid off b4 i put in the radeon. once i had installed all the drivers etc and got it looking decent i wanted to test the beast out so i dialed up and went to play cs. aaah 100fps from a measly 30-50. whilst i was playing cs my screen went totally black i think it actually rebooted. so i reboot and set my overclocking back to default thinking it was that. i went back into windows and ran 3dmark to put load on the gpu to see if the card was dodgy. i ran 3dmark and as soon as it started my pc froze. this time when i booted up jsut before windows loaded all the white boot text went crazy all wierd text appeared but it seemed to load windows fine. so my dilema now it whether it is my psu, the card or a driver mess up between ati and nvidia drivers. plase help im falling apart here guys
Run the system with just Graphics card and Hard Drive to rule out PSU. You can get into windows, so open regedit and remove all traces of nVIDIA (didnt think this would cause a problem anyway - but worth a try) It is also possible that you clocked the card too far too early and have damaged it. If the problem continues see if you can test the card in another machine - if the problem shows up there RMA the card.
VIA drivers installed? I had to un install the Hyperion drivers, can't use any AGP 3.0 driver or my PC will freeze as soon as I try to run 3Dmark or even the screen saver starts!!! What version of windows? MB etc..... Ned
So there was a problem before the drivers were loaded? It would have to be a hardware thing. As Yoda mentioned the best way to find out whats going on is to try it in a different machine. If it IS a problem with the card its RMA time.
My mobo is a Jetway 830CH it uses a SiS730S chipset. now the connect3d card that i have says in the manual that usage with my chipset i need the latest agp drivers so it will work with my mobo properly. i have tested it in my mates computer and it works fine so its not the card. but yet i have had problems with my monitor ranging from a white screen (half desktop, half white) display going black then coming back again all moved around as if someone had played with the monitor controls and freezing in cs and in 3dmark. i have tried it with my old card but i still get the white screen thing which i have never had before since i bougfht my old card. so here is the situation, it cpould be mobo/sischipset error or the monitor. does/has anyone ever seen or heard of this white "flashbang" effect? pls help this is really starting to get annoying
