Apple help, movies

    what would be a good (free :rolleyes:) program to rip avi's or divx to dvd using my mac book pro?

    thanks for any help, i googled it but really dont know whats hot or not

    So you want to put an avi or divx on a dvd, and make it playable on a standalone dvd player? Since you mentioned in your sig you use a mac IDVD, i think you can do that with it.

    There is some software mentioned (i think) Here, in the Mac Software thread.
    Specifically - Handbrake.
    Haven't used it yet, but it sounds good.

    I use handbrake for ripping dvds to .m4v for my ipod and it is fantastic, takes about an hour and a half on my macbook(2Ghz, 2gb Ram)for most movies.

    cheers i shall look into that :)

    and yeah i dont know about idvd, seems pretty poor imo
