what would be a good (free ) program to rip avi's or divx to dvd using my mac book pro? thanks for any help, i googled it but really dont know whats hot or not
So you want to put an avi or divx on a dvd, and make it playable on a standalone dvd player? Since you mentioned in your sig you use a mac IDVD, i think you can do that with it.
There is some software mentioned (i think) Here, in the Mac Software thread. Specifically - Handbrake. Haven't used it yet, but it sounds good.
I use handbrake for ripping dvds to .m4v for my ipod and it is fantastic, takes about an hour and a half on my macbook(2Ghz, 2gb Ram)for most movies.
