As Coolmiester has said it's the only way to rule out the arrangement of components in the loop.

Nothing is impossible with the mighty Dremel behind you.... You could mount the radiator *outside* the case.

That's what I'm trying to do with the Scary Little Deamon Girl.

OK, today I re-arranged the setup as I said I would, so that the GPU block is completely absent from the loop.
Currently it is: RES > PUMP > RAD > CPU

However, this hasn't helped AT ALL, and the temps are still 49'C completely IDLE. :(

    annoying.

Coolmeister do you think that having he water pulled through the radiator would be a solution to the problem?

Well if you've put it back to how it was with your old board which you were getting better temps then i would say its got to be the new m/board giving you a different reading..........though wouldn't like to say if it was your old board giving you the false reading or your new one.

Wasn't it the NF7 that needed a bios flash to correct the temp??? i'm not sure but someone else might know the answer to that!

I'd still swap the fan/rad around so its pulling air through the rad as appose to pushing it through and also can you take a pic of the front of the case??

Did i read correct when you said that you have tried a few different fans, some with high CFM but you say this had no effect on temps.............that would tend to suggest that the onboard temp monitor is goosed!

    what are your overclocks?
    I have a XP2400+ w/ 512k L2 (effective XP2800)

clocked at stock (2.0ghz) stock volts i get load temps just hitting 40°C or less, when overclocked to 2.5ghz @ 1.77v load temps hit 50ish°C

im not happy with my setup atm :/

deciding whether to get a new block or a heatercore rad...

eehh do not warry i have almost the same system and the same water cooling system (i said almost i have bigger rad and barton2800@2450 , and home made blocks)
and my mobo shows me crazy temps
    room temp 26
    cpu idle 42
    cpu full 49

but i tried to meazure my temps with a sensor and my real temps are

    cpu idle 31
    cpu full 35-36

so just do not bother or to be sure try a thermal sensor just like i did
my mobo has the latest bios d25 and i have the temperature problem from
    d21 version

this is my first post Ouhhaa
i really love this forum !

welcome tefra, what you should do is go to your local doller general get a small digital thermomiter and see if that is showing the same temps

dont stick it inbetween the cpu and water block.

thanks for your input guys, but if i got a temperature probe, where exactly do i place it to get an accurate cpu temp?

As near as you can possibly get it to the CPU core itself

Are you getting good flow? Can you look in the res and see if you get good flow? Maybe your pump went bad but still pumps. Ive heard of someone that received their cpu block and found out they had packing styrofoam in one of their inlets but didnt know until he ran his system. Maybe you have the same and is restricting your water flow.

Also how hot does your psu get? It looks very close to your cpu block and the tube goint to the res. Maybe it is heating up your water.

FanatiK - I suppose I do not really know about the flow, it seems to be circulating ok, and when the lid of the res is removed there is definatly a current, and the pump is fairly new so im guessing its ok..

as for the PSU, it feels cool to touch, so i doubt that is the cause.

Many thanks for the contribution anyways :)

    ALSO

tefra - has the 25 revision of the NF7-Sv2 bios changed anything? or had any effect on temps?

no it hasn't changed anything important for us , the tamp problem still exist i think the new bios support one of the new model of cpu from amd

NF7-s BIOS' are crap at reading temps get an external probe on the chip. Some BIOS' read high others read low.

I'm adding a heatercore to try and solve my problems, but im getting 35°C when ambent is 26°C so i cant complain much.

my advice mess with the BIOS!

EDIT: also where did you get the nifty springs from?

Heh, they are rear suspension springs from my Tamya RC car!
Just had them lying around and it so happened they were perfect fit.

If u want proper one Swiftech produce CoolSleeves which is essentially the same thing, which are sold on overclock.co.uk

    Ok, bit of an update.
Thanks to some advice from olv^ i've updated my BIOS to TicTac's 3DFIRE bios, and the temps have dropped a fair bit. Now idle @ 45'C idle after being on for a few hours, which is about 5-6'c cooler than before.

Im currently satisfied, but i still think its too high for watercooling :p
I want to aim for the high 30's, so im convinced theres still a problem somewhere

Abit boards always read about 10c hot, simple as that.

well thats obviously not true. many people, including myself, have abit nf7-s which definately don't read 10 degrees too hot. Unless you're suggesting my cpu is actually at 17, not 27 :/

Some may read too hot, but saying all abit boards always read too hot is just stupid.

Benje, i think the BIOS change has proved how futile the temp readings are. I think now you'll only start to see a change in temp if you start actually swapping water blocks and stuff, seeing as though you now have pretty much optimal flow order.
