Hi guys, I have a vandal switch that looks like the below. When I wire up the power button to the two innermost pins (not the centre one) and hit the button the power turns on, but then powers off again. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
I would have thought that going plus and minus on the led would be the way to go, not bridging the connections. I am using 4 pin switches and that is how I have mine wired up. Also the fact that you mentioned that when you power up it turns off again, suggests to me that you have a permanent feed some where. Which is acting like you are keeping your finger on the switch.
Hmmm yeah, I think you are right, and have a feeling the switch is faulty. I've definitely got it wired up correctly. Kustom PC sells the same switches and they say "Connect - and + connections to motherboard LED headers or to a 12v supply (eg to a fan header). Connect pins C1 and ND1 for switch." which is exactly what I am doing.
Not sure why they have wired it that way in the diagram because momentary switches are obviously only closed allowing power through for a very short time which is all that's needed to turn on the PSU but they have connected the LED's to the NO1 so power will only momentarily go to them then go off. Power to C1 (common terminal) for + power is fine but the power out of the switch comes from NO1 (normally open) so the switch needs to be pressed to close it to make a circuit and they have used NO1 for the LED power and put the power output for the on/off switch on the LED - terminal? Anyway here is the diagram that came with the momentary switches I use try that and see if it works, the + wire from the front panel power connector goes to the COM terminal and the - wire from the front panel power connector goes the NO terminal.
