Networks help needed

ok well with all of that done, (I.e the networking stuff) i still cant get into the two computers for the opposite one. I am using a switch because i will be putting a router/modem on the LAN as well to give everyone access to the net through it. Could it be the NIC's I have a onboard NIC on the ME machine and a £7 Dabs value NIC that i got from a friend, or could it be a ****ty cable. Also do i need too turn XP's guest account on?

Just try to find a cross over cable so u can see if the nic on both machines work than u can say that there is nothing wrong with the nic and test the cables and switch to see if they work.

ok i upgraded the ME machine to XP after a lot of tweaking with the CD and all works fine now yay! now i must share the ADSL over the LAN and get each comp to access it via the LAN but thats at a later date
