yeah id try to opt for 6GB of DDR1333 if your budget will allow and get vista home premium 64

also have you considered a 4770 in crossfire as these are on average 20% faster than a single 4890 and only cost < £160 for 2 !!!!!!!!.

not sure if ya want crossfire but its serious value for money it seems

Unless he wanted to play GTA IV or future games!

A Core2Quad is plenty for gaming but as hes building from scratch he might as well pay the bit extra and go for i7.

seriously re-consider that GPU its horrible value for money its only slightly faster (around 10%) than a 275 which is considerably cheaper

I thought the exact same with when I bought my "massive" 500GB drive.. its in the red on a daily basis and I have to keep finding things to delete/uninstall!! :(

To physically build a PC with decent cable management for your first time shouldn't take longer than 1-2 hours, its hard to say really but just take your time. Installing the OS and all the driver and programs takes up the rest of the day though lol

yeah a day is more than enough, just remember to be patient and think about keeping the cables tidy as you build or before you screw something in.

dont whack everything in and then try to tidy the cables lol trust me it wont work.

Yea will do mate... i gonna make a few changes im gonna change the PSU to the Corsair 750w instead of 620. But what i would like help with is to choose a wicked case one that doesnt look cheap and nasty... maybe with neons or summat depends how hard to fit and stuff info needed......

    not sure on that end.

i tend to buy cases based on there practicality and cooling ability rather than there looks.

i have an antec 1200 and its a lovely case to work with. (also has neons if you want that)
it has exceptional cooling 3x120mm front, 2x120mm exhaust and 200mm top fan plus space for a 120mm side fan.
