Hey everyone, having a hard time picking a case for an i7 build. HELP!! Here are the specs of my build. i7 920 OC'd to 4.0 Ghz asus p6t deluxe 12GB ddr3 1600 gtx 280 4 hd in raid 10 dvd burner Cases I like with downsides: Silverstone Fortress FT01 - not as good gpu cooling - dust filter under psu and top case fan seem impossible to clean - $$$$ Coolermaster HAF 932 - might be loud? - no dust filters Case NEEDS - good airflow (duh ) - no door - prefer mid tower - no crazy led's - try to keep under $200 THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
What about those Akasa cases? Omega, Eclipse and Mirage. They seem pretty nifty, as does that Hiper case, Osiris (the Anubis seems to be too much work). My own personal choice would be the Lian Li A20, though. I love that case to bits, even though I don't have enough room for it. But it has a door, so it's probably not for you.
I would go for an Antec. They are excellent quality, not over the top, and the Nine Hundred is good value for money, or you could get the Twelve Hundred for a Full Tower with more fans. As it is, the Nine Hundred has two front 120mm fans, one top 200mm fan, one rear 120mm fan and a slot for a side fan. I personally have the Three Hundred but I would say the airflow is not good enough for an i7 system. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2006/11/21/Antec_Nine_Hundred/1 http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0 On dabs.com it is under £71. Although, on the Nine Hundred I don't believe you can turn the blue LEDs on the two front fans off.
I made the mestake of buying an antec 900, i got it, tried to build a decent computer in it, and sold it on ebay 3 days later at a loss of £25, thats how much i dont like it. It has: Bad cable managment Bad fans Ban amount of noise No room for water cooling An annoying side window thats to big to ignore but to small the see anything through only three external drive bays no potential to add a water cooling radiator exept by using a swiftech radbox without being very experienced/risky with your cutting EDIT. the skeleton is also bad, i would write a list of rants about it but i cant be bothered, here are two quick ones: DUST no room for decent cpu cooler EDIT 2. Sorry if i sound a bit bossy, angry, ranty, but ive just had some bad experiences with antec cases, and im annoyed with myself for buying one
Oh no. No convection through the case as it's open, and it's just bad.. Great to look at, but useless thermally. Edit: Of the Silverstone one and the CoolerMaster HAF, I'd have the HAF. It's got serious airflow and can look really good, depending on your taste. I mean, come on, it has 3 230mm fans! (apparently)
Its not a case, it's a test bed (whatever you want to call it). If you have a lot of hardware you want to test, use the Skeleton, if you are building a computer for the discerning gentleman, use a Lian-Li.
Without having any experience with water cooling whatsoever I second choosing a Lian Li case. But I've said so above already...
With the case I always say it's personal opinion, Lian-Li make good looking cases with good airflow and are usually very roomy!
Hey man, I picked up a Hiper Osiris for my Intel I7/920 processor. It has three 120 mm fans (one front, one top, one back); I replaced the fans with Noctuas and they keep the case cooler. The case is built well and although the HD's don't go in "toolless" the case is built like a brick outhouse. Side panels come off nice and clean. MOB tray isn't removable but no problem mounting the HD. Cable management isn't too bad. It's not a full tower but I can fit a Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 Quiet CPU Cooler into this puppy (with one fan). Just a thought... Stamp
