    Hi,

I recently decided I'd have a go at building my first pc and so have assembled and attached all the components and cables (I think) but I am not getting any image out put from the machine.

I've removed most of the stuff that I thought I didn't need and so am left with the following:

    Asus Maximus V Gene
    i3570k
    Cpu cooler
    8gb ram (2 sticks)
    ssd
    optical drive

I can get the board to light up, the cpu fan will start spinning and both the optical drive and ssd appear to be powered correctly although occasionally the cpu fan slows down before speeding up again.

I can't see anything obvious that I would have missed and have been desperately searching the manuals and video's online but am really unsure about the build now and worried I might have done something wrong!

Would really appreciate any help or advise! Unfortunately Asus support is only open Mon - Friday!

Fixed it, didn't realise I needed to plug in an eatx power cable in addition to the other one so all working.

Very happy with the performance of the machine so far, vertex 4 256gb is lightening!

Yeah his mobo is a Z77.
The only thing that comes to mind for me is faulty RAM - but don't take my word for it.
