Why would it not translate to better FPS using a quad. I have first hand experience of a quad having a massive affect in a game with GTA 4. I changed from a dual core to a quad and my frames almost doubled I had actually had to downgrade in gpu power as well as my new board wasn't SLi so I was running on a single 8800GT card until I bought the 275.
Can we see some stock benchmarks? Remove all overclocks and run everything at stock, you might also be right about the PSU thing, what PSU are you using (sorry if this has already been asked - I can't be assed to read all the writing thusfar )
lmao...im using the Jeantech Storm 700W modular. http://www.jeantech.com/storm.htm I remember a few weeks back when i was running a similar overclock ( 3.3GHz ) and a 9800GTx+ i was getting a gnats gonad short of 14000 in 3DMark06
The 700w has plenty of power, my rigs running a 600w. Definitely try the Quad, if its just Arma 2 thats performing bad.
GTA4 sure. but the argument by gamers is that most games won't see a lot of benefit using quad cores, because they are mostly still procedure based. Im by no means against going quad cores. Im just warning that the speed increase may not be as much as you thought. Definitely won’t be 2x the original speed in most games.
well i need to do something. I know the server exe file for ARMA 2 is still only a BETA but when frame rates are like this its not much fun.....oh and if anyone else is in to tactical gaming then please head over to us at www.world-gamers.co.uk and look us up in the arma 2 servers...=WBG= Tactical gaming.
