Hello, my PC makes a VERY loud noise when start up after being switch off for some time. It then goes away after about 3-5 minutes. • It doesn’t happen if I turn my PC off and on again – only if I leave it off for some amount of time. • The noise seems to be coming from the PSU • It is a new build and the cables are very well managed with nothing touching a fan and very clean • My PSU is a Corsair TX650, when I had the noise I restarted and this message came up: “Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit / Press F1 to run SETUP.” • I bought all the parts from Scan in April this year. What shall I do? Is the PSU faulty? Or could the ASUS anti-surge be causing the fan in the PSU to go in overdrive?
What kind of noise is it? Buzzing or a loud fan? If you can get hold of another PSU to test it with then that would be a good start to help isolate the exact issue.
Hi thanks for replies, its not an electical buzzing noise. It sounds like the fan is working very hard then steps down after start up. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh1np96l7Hk
