I want to get 4ghz+ and have my memory run at its rated speed as it supports Intel XMP profile.
    Please check sig for details.

I was looking to set the QPI to 20x200mhz with turbo off.
What voltages do I need to change, and what would be the max?

    Thanks,

    Simon.

As you most likely know, YMMV but I run my overclock at 1.3125V (it can run at 1.3V but I want a little extra security). All other settings I've left on auto.

That's with a forced 21x multiplier and 194 BCLK though.

with a 930 you will get a x21 multi with turbo off.

    heres my 920 settings:

    speedstep enabled
    turbo off
    BCLK: 200
    DRAM: 1603Mhz
    CPU voltage: 1.31250
    CPU PLL: 1.90
    QPI/DRAM Core voltage: 1.3
    DRAM bus voltage 1.64
    LLC disabled.

    everything else is auto.

    Ok, thanks.

I can get 4ghz but its not stable using Intel burn test.

    Performance enhance: Standard
    Turbo mode: Off
    HT: on
    QPI: 20 x 200
    Memory multiplier: x10
    XMP enabled (ram runs @ 2000mhz 9 9 9 24 1t 1.6v)
Vcore Set at 1.3v in Bios (CPUZ reports 1.26v)
    QPI VTT: 1.51v
    CPU PLL: 1.8v
    QPI PLL: 1.3v
    Loadline calibration: Level 1

If I drop my QPI VTT to 1.3v and increase my Vcore to 1.35v it wont post.

    Simon.

whats your uncore speed at ?

it should be 2x RAM speed +1 multiplier giving 4200 and that is a very steep order

Uncore is set at 4000mhz The intel XMP sets the memory to this.
    Qpi link is at 7.2ghz

Try under-clocking your RAM while you're pushing the CPU. Sometimes the RAM can introduce instability that's hard to differentiate from the CPU not coping.

Regarding CPU vcore - I run around 1.25v for my 3.8GHz. Although people have done it, I would not go above 1.35v as a general rule on these i7's - at least not for any permanent overclock.

Ok, I will have ago at that. What would be the max setting for the QPI VTT Cause past 1.31v its highlighted in pink.

its proberly not helping having 6 sticks of ram as it can put more strain on the northbridge ( i think )

thats correct but there is no northbridge anymore its on the CPU so to speak so extra heat and strain on the 930 instead. It shouldnt be a massive issue but it can lower the Max overclock your able to achieve.

Isn't the QPI Link speed too high? Or does the 930 run that high? I'm sure my 920 @ 4Ghz runs at 4.8

ninja edit: I'm pretty sure the 930's link speed is 4.8, too - spec

Might just require a little more juice on the cpu if the vdroop is to be believed.

    QPI@7.2GT/s!!!

I'd set that to 4.8 pronto.

At 4000+MHz on the uncore, things can get dicey and need the voltage turned up.- lucky you're watercooled!

I recommend following what this guy did. Sure it's for a different mobo but the numbers should transfer across.

    EDIT: Here's a better guide.

You may need to increase the VTT to 1.6v+ for 2000MHz. As suggested above try dropping the RAM speed as low as it will go. My Trident needs just over 1.6v to run at 2000MHz with a 4.2GHz overclock and 1.475v to run at 1600MHz with 7-7-7-20 rather than 9-9-924. It still needs 1.375v to run at 1200MHz.

You shouldn't need more than 1.6v on the DRAM voltage though unless you overclock it but then the QPI/VTT volts get silly.

    Right I have now got it stable at 4ghz and memory at 2ghz 9 9 9 24 1t.

Idle temps 45,44,44,42 (been on for a few hours) Max Temps 100% Load With Intel burn test 76,76,74,74. Outside Temp 22c.

    20x200
    Turbo off
    XMP proflie 1
    Uncore 4000mhz
    QPI @ 7.2ghz
Vcore 1.325v in Bios (CPUZ 1.312v)
    QPI VTT: 1.59v
    CPU PLL: 1.9v
    QPI PLL: 1.4v
    Loadline calibration: Level 2
    Dram voltage 1.60v

turning hyperthreading off will drop temps quite a bit, it just depends on if you need it or not, i find for gaming it pretty pointless

Thanks for all the help guys!!

Been stable for the last few hours. Idle is still at 40-45c. Which I'm happy with considering Outside temps peaked at 26c.

    Cheers,

    Simon.
