Hi all, Well seeing as my wavemaster is too small and i dont want to start cutting up the case im thinking about adding a box ontop of the wavemaster. Now id like to know where i could buy the metas needed to make a box to hold a: 120.1 // 120.2 rad at the top, and a res (possibly) and possibly a pump too. So if anyone knows where i can buy the metaks that i need to use for the metals id be very greatful AND YES IM GOOGLING B4 ANYONE SUGGESTS THE TOTALLY USELESS POST
Rapid electronics sell some aluminium sheets, but if you want to build a box u should consider getting one of the aluminium boxes from maplin (not sure if their big enough though). Im using one as a junction box, but my ones tiny
Try http://dkc1.digikey.com/uk/digihome.html to see if some suitable boxes are already available. You don't have to buy from them, but they often give you nice datasheets with all the dimensions.
You could always try RS Components ...be quick though as tis link will only survive for 20 minutes...then you got to navigate on your own steam (broadvision sites suck)!!
^^ Best Site So Far, now instead of making a box, ive been thinking about making a case maybe a cube, something like the Mounatin Mods Case.... will cut windows, blowholes etc. Now does anyone know how i can put the metals together? Will soldering work? although im not to sure.... i dont have a rivet gun either... Would screws with nuts be okay to hold the case together? lmk guys, cheers...
You can geta rivet gun from b and q for pretty cheap. Bending aluminium would require a corner and a rubber mallet and lots of patience
there was a link in the useful links sticky, metalsontheweb i think, will do a quick search and provide a link to the post. edit: linky
Quoted From that website, does that mean you could bend it with your hands? I have bended acrylic before at school (heated, placed wood and made a 90 degree angle) but ive never bent aluminium. Also is that the correct aluminium [ that i have quoted] to buy? Thanks, Cool_Dude
im no expert but i'd guess it depends on the thickness you will be ordering, in my opinion it would be best to clamp the sheet between two blocks of wood in a vice than bend it that way you should get quite a straight edge. Of course this depends on the size of the sheet. Why dont you just mail the company your questions and a description of what your doing and see what they suggest.
i feel bit-tech memers are more expericed lol Ive given though on just connecting the panels up by a l-shape piece of metal, then drilling holes through the acrylic and adding nuts and bolts. This should continue, but ill have to see
