    Hello Everyone!

I'd like to give a shout out to the clever clogs's out there! Without you guys keeping track of the component world i think alot of us would be confused to hell about what to buy and what not to buy!

Saying that, I have a few questions i was wondering i could get some help with please?
    Here goes -

Everytime i buy a new PC, a month and a bit later, something new comes out and at the same price and it really bums me out! Like, when i bought a dual core, quad core came out soon after and i could have easily bought that instead!

So what i would like to know is, am i safe in buying a new PC in june/july, without something like a i8 intel processor coming out? Lol! Im not concerned about the smaller parts, its the big stuff like the CPU.

Im going to be buying an nvidia card, i thought some new ones were coming out and maybe the old ones may have some price drop? Has this happened yet?

I have read statements from Intel themselves, saying that the Ivy Bridge CPU's run hotter than the Sandy Bridge CPU's. Now, im not going to do any heavy overclocking. My aim is 4.4Ghz tops. That is where I will leave it at.

On SCAN, theres only a £10 difference between an i7 2700k and an i7 3770k!!!

So now im not sure what to get?!
I've had some differing opinions; some people are saying you will save on energy and power with a 3770k, others are saying its a useless CPU to have and to stick with a 2600k and not even bother with 2700k or 3770k! Others saying buy a 2700k and not the 3770.

    Im just so confused.

I've practically got all my components and the only thing now is the CPU/Mobo. My mobo will either be the sabretooth z77 or gigabyte g1.sniper z77 (any reco's?)

So i hope i have given you folks something to think about and i await the responses!

You're fairly safe with CPUs as Ivy Bridge has only just been released, along with Z77 chipsets, so that should be fine for a while yet.

GPUs are never, ever going to be futureproof, but the GTX670 is a recent arrival, so that's pretty safe for a while too.. or at least until Maxwell arrives, but that's months away yet.

Get the 3770K over the 2600K, as the latter is Sandybridge, and the former Ivy Bridge. Either motherboard is fine, but if you get a IB CPU make sure you get a Z77 board if buying it all new. I'd get the Sabertooth though.. just because I've always liked and never really been let down by Asus.

It would be helpful to us if you gave us a budget.

I guess i could say my main concerns are the CPU and Mobo. Not too bothered about anything else as it comes pre-built from SCAN. Theyre putting my components and my overclock together.

I dont want to draw too much power either. I know the 22nm ivy bridge cpu's are "supposed" to draw less power, but with all that extra added heat, not sure if they'll last as long as SB chipset. I get the feeling theyre priced the same because theyre not a good cpu. Maybe a future stepping may be a better option.

But thats what ive been led to believe. Maybe people who have them will know about it?

Ok actually, whats the latest? Is it Z77 or X79?

GPU Wise, im going with 560Ti. That will do me for my needs. Might SLi this later.

Z77 is the latest, X79 is SB-E, which is incredibly expensive. And the 560Ti is a good card, but one powerful GPU > two weaker ones in SLI.

    Z77 + Ivy Bridge = PCI-E 3
    Z77 + Sandy Bridge = PCI-E 2

Edit: Just noticed your GPU choice, so that's not really applicable.
