    Ubuntu and Gnome is snappy on my laptop but it is substantially higher spec'd than a P3 with 512MB :D
    Xubuntu is pretty nice too. :)

    I'll assume your being pedantic about his use of gig :)
    because the p3 went up to about 1.2ghz though at that speed you'd be better off looking at a athlon xp.

    yeah, i was being pedantic... just saying my crapping little P4 wont handle windows really... its just slow... but this topic is old and holy thread revival batman....

    Well the cpu is close enough:

    997.833Mhz is close enough to 1ghz for me :thumb:
