Oh wise Bit-Tech community I seek guidance.

My gf has a crappy old laptop that is a bout to give up the ghost, needless to say she wants a new one.

    Her requirements:
    - Lightweight and portable (she will be taking it to and from lectures and on the train)
    - DVD drive (annoyingly hard to get both this and lightweight :wallbash:)
    - Reasonable spec, doesn't have to play games or anything, just not an over-priced paperweight ;)

    Budget:
    up to ~£600

Prefer a lower price tag, but if worth the money can go up to max.

    Her use:
    Internet and office (normal stuff)

Any and all help is greatly appreciated :D

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Look at the Sony Vaio Fit and Fit E.

Also it sounds like the type of laptop you are looking for is whats called a subnotebook.

If size and weight is key then have you considered looking at used Macbook Airs? You should be able to pick up something very nice for under £600 and third party USB drives are available for under <£20.

The airs are low spec but enough for (normal stuff) and have awesome battery life. Nothing comes close to them on the spec / size / weight / battery life / resale value combination.

    Just a thought...
