    Hello.
I recently bought a new cpu cooler, Prolimatech Megahalems. I'm new into the OC stuff and I need some help for a 4GHz stable system.

If you want to dive in head first set your base clock to 124, that equates to 4GHz, the CPU voltage will need to be set at 1.3, you might even get away with less if your lucky. But it could be that you have to go upwards to get stability, some people are running 1.45...

Have a look at the bit-tech guide it'll give you pretty much what you need to know> http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/09/21/overclocking-intel-s-core-i5-750/1

Must admit the "auto" works pretty well in the BIOS on these, just set to 3.4 - 6- 8 or 4ghz.

I have an i5-750 on a p55m-ud2 and it refuses to hit 4GHz no matter what (the third core always fails). You may never hit 4GHz but I'd try a base clock of 200, a multiplier of 20 and a vcore of 1.38. I'd also up your PCH voltage a bit.

I tried with many settings but the system is unstable in intel burn test. In prime95 the system was stable for ~ 30min with blend test.

    CPU voltage - 1.318 ( up to 1.45, same stuff )
    DRAM voltage - 1.615 ( auto / tried 1.65 - 1.71 )
    PCH - 1.1
    VTT - 1.279
    PLL - 1.886
The RAM is set on auto
    QPI freq - 6400
    multi - 20
the other stuff like speed step, turbo, cstate, vdrop - OFF

I tried with different settings but the system will restart after 1-5 min in Intel burn test. Some advice? :)

What settings should I apply to the memory? 600 / 800 / 1000 or auto; what voltage?
I ran intel burn test at 10 tests with maximum stress ( lot of ram ).

Depends what speed your ram is meant to run at, I would guess if its 1600mhz memory you want it to run on the 800 setting though usually the motherboards have a multiplier rather than a speed to choose. Using cpuz you can see what speed its currently running at and use that to set the memory speed.
The only other thing I can think of is do you have an option for cpu clock drive voltage? I think it defaults at 800mv on most motherboards but I think 900mv is meant to be better for oc.

    Same.

I can get 3.4ghz on less than stock volts! 3.6ghz on just over stock, 3.8ghz with a chunk more. But I cannot get 4ghz, I have tried all manor of base clocks and multipliers I just cannot get it stable. I haven't yet tried to push some crazy voltages to just see if its possible.

I did find that the 3rd core failed with a high vtt, but when I backed off the VTT it was always the first core that failed. I think the vtt is the key, but I really don't want to push it too hard on a cpu/board that I want to last me.

Stable at 3.8 with these settings:

The memory is good with the settings? The cpu voltage is ok?
What should I modify for 4GHz?

Try a VTT of 1.35 and a CPU voltage of 1.35 each.

+1 for unreachable 4GHz. Can't get mine Linpack stable, no matter what settings I try. 3.8GHz is plenty for me though so I'm not complaining really.

    I managed 1.296 for V core at 3.8 stable after 1 hour in Intel burn test ( temp max @ 77* ).
    I can't reach 4ghz though...

    Vcore: 1.29
    Dram V: 1.615
    VTT:1.249
    PLL:1.886

The difference between VTT and DramV must not reach 0.5 V?

I thought the difference between ram voltage and vtt should be less than 0.5v.
