I've fixed it, but its happened twice in one day now, so i'd still like to no what happeend incase it happens again!

    -System specs in sig.
-I went to attached some nu round cabled i bought off slater333 on here, simple enough eh.
-Attached them, lovely tidyied my cables again.
    -Went to power on......NOTHING?!?!
-Took PC apart thinking i knocked sommit while cable tidying.
-Went to power on....Fans spun for aprox 3 seconds...then nothing.

-PSU DEAD? - no no charge coulda got through if the fuse was gone.
-MOBO DEAD? - still got power...and i didnt really go near the mobo.
-CABLES FONKED? - seemed likely as thats what i'd changed.

-I reset the bios and removed the battery etc...be on safe side.
-Ran the systme with only one HDD in and the power lead out the back (no monitor etc...coultn reach it on side on floor)

    -BOOTED!!
-couldnt c anythign though but it beeped and every whired to life. (no monitor plugged in)
    -So though...eh weird
-Plugged everything back in, re tidied cables, hours later....
    -went to power on....NOTHING!!!

    -For the luv of god!

-Took everything apart again, same as before, reset bios one hdd...booted..
-Plugged one thing at a time and checked for boot.
-Got it all to boot (still no screen monitor dont reach remmember)
-Re tidyied cables and plugged the final thing in...DVD drive.

-NOTHING! god dammit man its been liek 5 hours for the luv of jebus!

-Now im up and running without tidying cables (maybe i pull summit out with it all?) and with no DVD drive?

-DVD Drive causing this somehow? i find it unlikely accidently removing my cathode or a fan here and there by tidying cables would cause this no boot, but short burst of power????

If you can test the dvd drive on another pooter and see what it does..?

What wattage PSU do you have?

Have you double checked the jumper settings on the dvd drive?

it seems to me like the psu simply couldnt handle the DVD as well as everyhting else i have in there, psu is 350 its in my sig i think, and my rig is pretty demanding but!!!

it worked b4 i changed the cables...how the hell can changing cables possible have caused all this?! its just plain odd.

Sounds like a crap PSU to me. I definitely recommend investing in a Sparkle, Fortron, Antec, or TTGI PSU.

I got this problem too when building a complete new computer.
It turned out, it s the motherboard ! It grounds where its not supposed
too. Simply replaced the case I used and no problem.
I still have that empty case below my desk, will try to get that thing going.
Every motherboard I use cause the same problem but only in that case!

In your case, I think you touched floppy cable or a molex.
