    Hi,

I have just (using frontpage) published my index.htm file for a website. However, when i go to the actual page, nothing comes up.

When i go to the online ftp page it shows that it has been uploaded.

During the process, a log file was created that said wwwroot. and users was deleted. Has this got anything to do with it?

All i want to happen is when i type in the adress, the index page shows???

    any ideas?

depending on how fussy your webserver is, it might have to be saved as .html

Is your .htaccess file specifying the DirectoryIndex to be index.htm?

As others have said, though - just rename the file to .html and upload it - the file will work exactly the same and will fix your problem assuming .html is set in htaccess.

The other thing is, have you uploaded to the correct directory? I've had three hosts all with different names for the directory where index.* needs to be, so read your host's guide.

as cpemma says sometimes it's in different folders, one of my hosts uses ~/public_html and has a symbolic link to it ~/www

some hosting companies are very picky about what the "main" page is to be called.
one hosting company i had to work with once required it to be called "main.html"

this was years ago, and needless to say i didnt work with them for long
