Can anyone help me with wiring a six pin vandal switch being fitted to a cosmos s case ? the only info i can find on the switch is here : http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product...-Aluminum-black--blue-ring-lighting-6pin.html In the small photo the pins are the same as mine*, but in the video they are not. The video isn't much use to me anyway because i don't speak german ! Oh i only managed to find the info by googling for "19mm aluminium schwarz" which is all i could make out of the faded text on the box. I contacted the company that sold it too me and they said that : pin 1&2 = Power On Normal pin +&- = LED (seems to work connected to the mboard header) pin 3&4 = Push to On (it says to connect this to power headers on atx board) I have connected pins 3 & 4 to the power switch header on the mboard (next to pc speaker ect) and connected the led okay but am not sure where to put pins 1&2(assuming the rest is correct) i thought it must go to the green atx wire and a blackwire for a ground (the two wires to power your pump to fill a watercooled system) but this doesn't seem to work. I've also been trying to get a wiring diagram for the cases top panel without any luck. Someone please help this is driving me insane ! i'm only doing it because the original touch sensitive switch doesn't work and this is my second cosmos s, after my first ones power switch died ! Not had my pc for about two months now
Only 2 things are on the button. Power led header and the power button. The other 2 pins are useless in case youre powering a PC. So if your pc powers up correct then its ok.
Mnpctech has a you tube vid for the Vandal switch here: http://www.mnpctech.com/Vandal_Resistant_Switch.html john
Okay just tried connecting only the LED pins and pins 3&4 nothing happens, but the motherboard power led is on so it must be getting something. Below is the link the guy from the shop emailed me pin with the pin assignments. http://img27.imageshack.us/my.php?image=17042009194506.png When i connect up the remaining two pins (1&2)to the atx motherboard connector green and black wires, half the fans connected to the motherboard go on but thats all. Ive never played around with power switches so please treat me as a complete begginer, i can't even remember if my last case was just the one connector going to the motherboard switch connector or if.... well you get the idea ! Any help very much appreciated.
*they're all dead.... tut tut. Unfortunate with the switch dude. I'm sure someone knows what it might be. Alternatively Burnout could be right in that they are all indeed fubar'd
Whats all dead ? the motherboard ? or the switch ? or everything ? gonna' strip it all down tomorrow and build it out of the case to try and find out if there is a short or something, cheers anyway lads ! ...... wait a minute..... are you tryin' to tell me there all dead ? lol
To be ontopic. Got a multimeter? Put it on the diode tester option and push the button. Now check with the multimeter if its making a contact. If you have a contact while pushing the button dont push the button. If the contact is lost now you're having the correct pins. Solder the pwr_on button cable on those pins.
Okay i've pulled the computer apart and am just using the motherboard and psu on a bench with the main drive and gpu also plugged in. I have now tested the vandal switch with only the mboard header pins connected. Switch still does nothing and the mboard LED is still lit up. What does anyone think is dead or incorrectly connected ? Oh i've also stripped off all the water cooling and fitted an air cooler.
So what finally happened with your Vandel switch? Did you get it to work ok? Was it a dead led inside the vandel switch from when you first bought it? If you got it to work what wires went to which number pins on the switch? Hope your putting your watercooling back on?
