Hi guys I have a strange quirk at start up that I would describe as a ghost screen minimising itself as icons and side bar load
I suspect it is one of my applications (that start with windows) starting up and minimising
I want to disable these items or remove them from the start folder 1 by 1 to see which causes this
I dont know where to find this file
On windows 98 I remember there being a file and i could remove the item from this file so it did not start when windows booted up
can some one tell me where these app's sit that start with your pc (eg my gamepad anti virus disc manager etc)

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks

    Nigel

You should be able to edit your startup list by going START -> RUN -> MSCONFIG -> STARTUP.

If you do not have the "RUN" command on your start menu, you will have to enable it. This can be done by right clicking the task bar -> PROPERTIES -> CUSTOMIZE START MENU and take it from there.

    Hope this will help.

I suggest going to Start, type in "run" launching run app, typing in "msconfig" and hitting enter. Then click on Startup tab and there you can select/deselect a lot off the background apps and etc. that start on boot up.
