Well I guess ill start off telling you what i am trying to do. I am working on modding a portable 7" TV in to my computer tower so that i can have the LCD to display my system information or play a video loop. Now the problem, the TV I have is a European TV and only has Scart connection on the back and the video card i am using has a S-Video and VGA out. I know there is an adapter to convert the Scart to S-video but it will cost more to ship than the adapter is worth, and funds at the moment are extremely tight (also my wife has threatened divorce if i spend any more money on the computer). I found a pin out for Scart to S-Video and I need to know if there is any chance of getting a back feed in to the video card and killing my MB and/or video card before I try this mod. If the link in the text doesn't work the URL is below. The 9600 is the video card im using to display to the LCD. http://pinouts.ru/VideoCables/scart_svhs_pinout.shtml Any help with this is appreciated. Mechh69
That pinout is wrong. Swap pin 19 for pin 20. That's showing a TV to capture card. You want a Video card to TV. I think you just need to swap the one pin. I can double check for you later on tomorrow. Found my cable. Swap pin 17 for pin 18 too. Code: 18 -> 1 13 -> 2 20 -> 3 15 -> 4 It's just a straight wire connection (no diodes or level converters or anything to mess around with). Just remember that the pins are labeled front looking at the pins, not the solder cups. 21 is the outer metal plate and should be attached to the cable's shield. The shield should be unconnected at the S-Video end. Depending on the TV you may need to pull one of the pins high to get it to auto-switch to the SCART input channel. I can look it up if you find you do.
Thank you for your quick response and correcting the pin out for the cable. I do appreciate the help. I will try that tomorrow probably.
Well Capnpedro I found another way to connect the lcd tv to the computer but i dont know if i want to use it, its kinda hard to view. Im not sure how to adjust the tv to have a decent display, Ill try to enplane. It plays a movie fine the pic is as good as can be expected, when you change modes from video to the raido the text displays nice and pretty, but when you change it to AV the display is not clear at all. I tried the adjustment on the tv but i cant get a decent picture on it to save my a@@. Any ideas? i have tried nvidia control panel to no avail any help would be much appreciated.
Firstly, check in the nVidia control panel that you're ouputting a PAL-i signal. Try telling it the connector is Composite rather than S-Video. Are you forcing a certain refresh rate? Is the picture in black & white? How is it not clear, is it fuzzy? Colours messed up? Ghosting? Black bars?
Well i went in to nvidia control panel and tried to force it to composite mode ( the only mode it will put out is s-video). The picture is in color and it is fuzzy when i put my system monitors on it. Thats what i want it to display and maybe run a video or something. Below is what the settings are in Nvidia control panel. TV Format M/NTSC (United States) Refresh rate 29Hz Color depth Highest (32-bit) Resolution (480i, 720x480 Recommended)
This is a multi system TV it should provide both signals! But just for arguements sake what would i have to set my video card to display? (it gives a list of countries in a drop down menu)
When i get off of work tonight ill try using UK settings and see if that helps. I do appreciate all the help!
