    Ok so I purchased a fan controller and I'm supposed to cut the red and black wires to go into the back of it, have you seen how many red and black wires are on a cable these days?
    anyhoo I'm not sure what wires I'm supposed to cut and I don't want to ruin my new fans or my controller. any advice?

    there should be two wires coming of off the fan 1 red and 1 black you cut these two wires (as close to the molex as possible) or you could just pull them out of the molex plug (just make sure you get the wires coming from the fan, not the thick ones on the molex)

    You can find this stuff out on Bit-techs guide to making a fan controller and a rheobus.
    To save you hunting around I'll give you the lowdown.

    If you need to put wires from your power supply into the fan controller to provide it with power (ie it doesn't have a socket to plu a power connector [molex] into) then you'll need to find a 4 pin plug on your power supply and cut the yellow wire and one of the black wires (doesn't matter which their both gnd). The yellow wire should be 12v (+) and the Black wire will be gnd (-)

    If you need to attach the fans using the wires instead of the plugs then use this as a guide:

    There should be either 2/3 or 4 pin plug on the fan.

    If the plug is two/three pin the wires should be something like:
    Red = 12v (+)
    Black = Gnd (-)
    and maybe
    Yellow = speed monitor (can be left alone, still attached to the plug, which can then be plugged into a fan header on your motherboard so you can measure your fans speed).

    The red and black you should cut from their plug and attach to the fan controller terminals as per the instructions that came with your fan controller.

    If the plug is four pin the wires should be something like:
    Red = 12v (+)
    Black = Gnd (-)

    The red and black you should cut from their plug and attach to the fan controller terminals as per the instructions that came with your fan controller.

    If they are anything different to what I've described post a description :hip:
