I have been reading this forum for quite a while now, and since i resently started to build a new case, i thought i'd put up a worklog here.

First of all - I'm a Great WorkLog Contestant, and so are you...

I would like to thank my sponsors for this project

Stephan Wille - CEO AquaComputer - For 30% Rebate on all Watercooling Equipment
    [IMG]

Ivar Aasland -Aasland Design - For good price on Airbrush Art
    [IMG]

Tommy Karlsen - Torco & Kielland - For Steelplates

Some of you might have heard of something in Norway called The Gathering, it's a huge LAN party held at the Olympic Arena, The Vikingship, in Hamar.
Gathering 5000++ people for a 4 day event every easter.
This year will be my first time there, and I felt like making me a new case for this event.

Normal computer cases are a bit cramped for my needs, therefore i felt like making a case that was suitable for my urge for space, so i decided to make a cubic case, measuring 480x480x480mm (due to the size of A.C.Ryan's Acrylpanel)
I came up with this in sketchup.
*edit* changed the picture to make this log safe for work (no pron now)

I have changed the layout for the top afterwords, but do not have any sketchup drawings for that, so you'll just have to wait and see.

I'm going to make a aluminum frame, and cover it with 0,9mm steelplates.

First i cut all the pieces for the frame with my crappy saw, just to find out that it didn't cut straigh, so all parts had to be adjusted with my dremel.

After cutting all pieces, it was time to mount them together.
I drilled 6mm holes in the aluminum square pipe, and inserted some sort of rivets with M4 threads (don't know what they are called in english)

If you repeat this enough you'll end up with this, a base frame.

With the base done, it was time to build the rest of the frame.
Here's what it looked like after some more building, included with a test fit of the motherboard tray.

Before i made the top part of the frame, i mounted the first steelplate to the bottom of the case, just to make sure the frame were perfectly square.

With the plate in place, and frame 99.9% square i could do the rest of the frame. Well, almost, at this point i'm all out of mountingscrews, so i have to wait for the next shipment to arrive (used 100+ already)
So, the top part is made, but not 100% mounted to the rest of the frame.

What should i do now, can't continue with the frame until i get more screws, and more cutting discs for my dremel.
Well, it's time to play with my hot air gun, and some acryl.
Made the mountingbracket for my 2 DVD burners. Looks great to be the first one i ever made.

Well, that's about all i have done so far, be shure to check back for more updates later on.

there are plenty of places for nipples on the internet, bit-tech isn't one of them.

just keep the rude bits censored :thumb:

Done some more shopping for this case.
Bought a second-hand 240x128 LCD, this was not planned to go into the case, but changes happen.

here's some pictures of some of the designs i have made, all but one is my own design, the systeminfo is made by Razor from LCDStudio.com (kudos)

This will be the third lcd in this case, the two others are CrystalFontz USB634 and AquaComputer Aquaero.

And to end this post, here's the reason for the pause in building.

He was born february 4. 10.29PM, my second child, first born son.
His name is Ravn, wich is the Norwegian word for Raven.

A big box of wonders finally arrived from AquaComputer, time to mod...

    I'll start with the MultiSwitch.
This is what it looks like originally.

Since i'm not going to use the original faceplate, and lights are red, i decided to change it some.

First i removed all the original leds, and then i soldered on 16 wires (2 for each led) aprox. 20cm in length.

Then i sleeved the cables in pairs.

All i have to do now, is to solder on som bright blue leds to the end of the cables. They have been ordered, and are due to arrive early next week.

I haven't been able to do to much on the case lately, due to my son beein born.
    But i have done some.

Made the second bottom plate (the floor inside the case)

Cutting in .9 mm steel is timeconsuming with dremel.

Almost done with the top plate aswell, just some minor adjustments to be done. still have to cut out the hole for my water tank though.

    Well, thats all for now.
Be sure to check back soon for another update.
