Saw the link to the Escher-esk pavers on your site ! That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen... are you going to use those on your home build? I sent the link to my wife... I have a feeling I am going to be buying some of those soon.. [edit] :: talked to the wife on the phone... the bad news is she wants to make a cement mold and create here own with bits of stained glass in them (more work for me!)... the good news is, I finally get a sufficient excuse to get a router.
I was thinking about using them. They look like they'd be expensive though. OK, for everyone else, here's what we're talking about: Paver stones that interlock: in a manner reminiscent of the art of M C Escher (fiendishly brilliant Dutch printmaker of the early 20th century) such as this: http://linear1.org/i/reptiles.jpg I like your idea of knocking them off, you could buy one and make a mold I suppose.
I actually did some of these designs back in my college days (who wasn't an Escher fan in college? ) ... mostly birds (because they are most forgiving design-wise) I just need to make some wooden models to make sure they will interlock as good as on paper... make a bunch of molds and mix me up some concrete, set the glass and pour... not exactly mass production but would be fun to try..
Escher r0x... i did my own rendition of his 'drawing hands' piece for my final art gcse piece two years or so ago... ...but its only paving!!! (take not smooth tarmac is better for kids to rollerblade on )
You've just given me a very good idea. I might do an Escher paint job on my case over the summer. I'll let you know if I do Meblin
