Well, after an absence of 2 months, and house move of 200 miles (from North London to West Wales), I've finally got (most) of the boxes cleared out and my beloved PCs are all setup (eventually). Broadband also took its time getting here (living in the sticks, the only option is ADSL, but thankfully I'm just on the edge of being able to get a 2Mb link). In the meantime, apart from unpacking boxes and all the Christmas-related palarver, I've also installed my home cinema - I'm hoping to do this for a living, so my own cinema was really just a test (albeit a rather expensive test). I can post a short log if anyone's interested. So, in the words of Jack Nicholson, "I'm baaaaack!" (yeah, yeah - I know, you're all going "Flibblebot...who he?" - just consider this a vanity spam )
I didn't move to Whales, I moved to Wales. Moving to Whales would be somewhat complicated, as having located the whale we liked, we'd have to get it to stay still long enough to get our possessions in (as recent events have shown, whales do not like the Thames)...not to mention the problems caused when the whale dives, lack of local amenities, plumbing, electricity etc... We moved to Wales because we couldn't afford to upgrade from flat to house in London, we both wanted to get out of London, and my wife and I both have family here. We've moved to just outside a small town on the SW corner of the Brecon Beacons, which is at the furthest end of the M4 and roughly equidistant between Carmarthen and Swansea. We're loving it here, it's probably the best thing we've ever done! Will post a log of the home cinema once it's done...
welcome back, flibble. living in the sticks then? bout an hour below me by the sounds of it. c.u.later
Oh .. nice.. I haven't been to another country yet.. Lucky you and I hope you're enjoying your time there!
The UK is a nation state consisting of 4 different countries: England Scotland Wales Northern Ireland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom edit: it's a common mistake to think of the UK as one country - and fairly understandable.
