hi everyone i am looking to buy a western digital 1tb internal hard drive for a cheap price but the hardwareking.net site does not look like a genie price looks like scam site so can anyone direct me to a site with a cheap price
Hardware king is a complete scam site. You were right in that. But there's nowhere you can find a 1TB drive for a good price now. Not with the floods in Taiwan and the shortages around the globe. You'll have to either stump up some extra money or wait for the prices to fall, which could be a while.
At the moment HDD price are much higher then normal due to production stopping. What's your budget? How cheap is cheap? Edit: Fuuuuuuu Tundra! Ninj'd by a bulldozer the shame!
The only way to get them relatively cheap is to get them used, something you really shouldn't do with hard drives.
Used HDDs are fine as long as you get it from someone who looks after their kit, like most people at Bit-Tech. You get a fair few good priced ones on the marketplace area (though lynx96 can't see that area with this current post count). The main thing to do when getting a used HDD is to check if there's any remaining warranty and get the seller to provide the results of a scan on the drive's health.
At the moment cheapest 1tb is going to be about £85, possibly better looking for 2nd hand or smaller size hd
Not sure what things are like your side of the sea, but over here can still get them for sane prices inside other things, like DVR units, NAS box, etc. Just pull the drive and sell the rest for parts, even possible to break even or profit.
