Very nice m8
So now it’s time to make this thing “Sparkle” literally but first lets handle the window. I cut a piece to fit out of some spare plexi and went searching for the right image to etch in. Then it suddenly hit me, “contents are flamable do not expose to heat or flame.” It’s a gas can what else would it have on the side but the DOT Symbol for flamable. so i got to etching with my dremal and here are the results.
great work man, i like the etching.
super nice idea. so original.
great thinking, can't wait to see the result.
Well you are going to hear this a lot in the future !
Q : He'y man im out of gas do you have a gas tank i can use ?
A : Sorry nope just a computer !
I love you new case idea it is so PERFECT !
Cool etch . Keep on modding.
While it has been done, that case is one of the 'HotBox' sections of Atomic MPC this month (tis an Australian Tard Rice mod magazine), i reckon you got quite a few oppurtunities to make yours even better.
GL with it, will keep my eye on this one.
I have seen this kind of mod somewhere else
ok just a thought but i got up this morning and the idea kinda stumbled over me...
how are you doing the external power connector? and what are you doing with the cap on the can? i think it would be cool if you rerouted the power connector to the gas can's nozzle. then run the power connector through the cap by cuting off the 3 prong standard house plug, and have a "screw in connector. then to replace the plug you cut off pick up a nice industrial looking one at your local home improvement store
that case is awsome , you have inspired me to start on a mod like that, keep up the good work
Btw: i just registred
WE WANT UPDATE!!! WE WANT UPDATE!!!
Look i bit closer then you would see that BlackCaT put a fan in the nozzle.
Btw still looking good.
is this casing the same one as in atomic?
Next Step took some thought and some amazing ideas were offered up by several friends but only one took the prize. Mirror Finish. Not an easy task when talking about a gas can that was made out of very textured metal but I LOVED the idea and had to do it so... hence the birth of the High Octane mod. Hence why there are two names here i have a total of 4 of these gas cans so i desided i would make two diffrent project out of them. heres a few pics of the paint stripping process.
I used this OFF paint stripper from krylon i believe and this stuff is truely amazing it bubbled off the heat treated enamal of this gas can. granted it didn't work exactly how it was supposed to since you should be able to simply wipe the paint off but it got it down far enough that i could take if off with a wire brush on my drill.
let it dry like that
it looks f*cking awesome
kinda like it's been in a fire or something.
It won't stay unless he put some massive clearcoat on it. It flakes off at that point usually. (Atleast with my "Zap" aresol stripper)
Those spray strippers really kick ass! I was so freaking amazed, and to think of all the times I contracted carpel tunnel because of sanding...
just stumbled over this project and i gotta say i like what i see :]
i'm looking forward to the finished product though it might take while.
MOD ON !
Eh my paint stripper is this clear coat that when bad or somthing but works like a charm spray tons on and wipe all tha paint off including primer.
Ok so finally i was able to find the time to get my pictures uploaded sorry it's taken so long but first off the sanding took for ever, and then theres the fact that i started another mod which i will be posting in a little while in the worklogs. anyway so on with some pics
First i started out with a wire brush on my drill to remove the rest of the paint and get it down to the bare metal then i started with the base plate to make sure i didn't gouge the metal with the sand paper i was useing since that would just make more work for me in the long run.
A few hours and some wire brush work for the hard to get places and here it
is half of the paint gone.
After a few more hours and a few more grits the True shine slowly starts to emerge and now we’ve got it down to a chrome like apperance. Looks good but still not the goal I have in mind.
Looks good, I like that metal finish a lot more than the red
I'd have to agree that the metal finish looks reallly nice.
