Hi i was wondering if any of the great folk at bit-tech could recommend me the best noise cancelling earphones for their value i was looking in the price range of up to £100 any advice or help would be greatly appreciated many thanks Virus44
Its just that I was looking at similar products earlier this year, and found that you either got good headphones, and poor noise cancelling or poor sound quality and good noise cancelling, unless you spent a lot more. I'm sure there are people here who have found a pair, but I gave up and got a pair of B&W P3's which are pretty awesome
Fair enough just going to hope that someone here has found a decent pair of noise cancelling earphones if not i will try the audiophile forums surely they will know
If you're dead set on active noise cancelling, Bose still make the best ones. They won't compare to standard headphones on sound quality, but they'll do well for a train journey or flight. If you don't mind IEMs, a pair of Shure SE215s or Westones with foam tips will isolate very well.
Seconded the SE215s. With the foam tips, I reckon they isolate just as much noise as the Bose QuietComforts cancel. I've done a side by side test on a plane (personal SE215s, airline's QCs), and carried on using the SE215s for the rest of the flight. EDIT: I'm not sure if they were QC3 or QC15 though, I didn't realise they made more than one until just checking now.
For the money I'd definitely recommend going for IEMs which will give a pretty good level of cut-off from the outside world and you can get decent sound quality for the money. I must confess I've never heard a set of Bose headphones that sounded all that good with anything other than very simple music, and I don't know of anyone else really doing the active noise cancelling thing.
Of course, if money is no object, a pair of Custom IEMs will offer the best comfort, sound quality and isolation. Prices range from £100 for a very basic single driver, to over £1500 for a top of the range pair, not including customs costs and fittings.
