I have an I3-4130 at stock clockspeeds with the stock cooler and a EVGA 750Ti.. The CPU cooler has developed this high pitch whine that becomes very noticable when it ramps up the speed.. Also, I use the CPU Temp & GPU Temp programs to roughly measure their temps and i've noticed that the CPU is around 50* at idle, whilst the GPU is at 35*. They're both within the max temps, but should I be worried about the intel cooler and look for a replacement? Seems VERY off to me, as I think the i7's and i5's come with the same one..?
That sounds quite hot to me. My i3-4160, ok it's got a CoolerMaster Hyper212 on it, runs at 25 ish at idle, and only goes up to 45ish while gaming. I'd be getting a new cooler just because it's quieter and will keep it cooler, not expensive these days to get something that's alot better than the stock intel one.
I cleaned out the dust etc about a week ago when I switched cases.. Although I didn't take off the cooler then and reapply compound.. Just transplanted the lot across. (I put fresh MX-4 when I got the mobo last year around march time.. So I doubt it's that!)
Even my E5400, which is a 65W TDP so only slightly higher was running at less than 50 on the stock intel cooler (think it was about 38-42ish).
I agree the temps seems a bit high. I would recommend a better cooler as they are pretty cheap. You could also try to reapply the compound, but if you are getting in there anyways, you might as well just put in a better cooler.
