So is now the time to start taking what Trump says literally or are his supporters sticking to the line that we should take him seriously but not literally.

 

Apparently we're supposed to take him alternatively.

 

Yea i read about him saying he would ask for an investigation into voter fraud, it's an odd thing to be asking for as he's won, outside of self-serving reasons i can't think why he'd still be making it an issue.

I keep trying to give him the benefit of doubt but he consistently seems to be reinforcing all the negative character traits he exhibited during the campaign.

 

He is basically a narcissist: he needs to win. All the time. Without a majority popular vote he does not feel he has really won hard enough.

Or to put it another way: psychologically he is such a loser that he cannot recognise when he has won.

It is also displacement activity. He doesn't actually know how to be a president. So he tweets, and he signs a few ill-thought-out executive orders (which don't really do anything constructive, but make it look like he is making good on his campaign promises), takes the credit for a few things that were happening anyway, tweets again, and he complains about the press and voter fraud, and he tweets some more. But he doesn't actually do anything.

 

1. Could be his incredibly thin skin
2. Could be using people focusing on 1 to shift attention from controversial decisions he has just took or is about to take
3. Could be pragmatic: if some evidence (even in small numbers in states that don't matter to the reps) of non citizens voting can put more legitimacy on implementing voter ID laws in the newly REP controlled states which traditionally harms Democrats and trump wants 4 more years.
4.All of the above plus something that hasn't been thought of.)


(personally I think he knows how to play publicity expertly and makes it look like No 1. when in fact he is doing No.2 and No. 3 is just a nice side effect.

2. I think he likes his decisions to be seen as controversial. That's his public image. He likes to be at the centre of drama and take credit too much for him to hide what he does.
3. I don't think he thinks that far ahead.

It's time for Godwin's law.

 

1. Wouldn't that mean someone had criticised or insulted him in a public manner, it seems more like he lacks a sense self, lacks self confidence, doesn't believe in his own abilities and so needs to prove himself to the world.

2. Would make sense if it was 6+ months into his presidency when a controversial decisions would stick out like a sore thumb, it makes little sense in the first week when the world and his wife is watching everything you do.

3. It could be but from everything I've read there's little evidence of voter fraud and what evidence there is points to the amount being so low that it doesn't even come close to effecting the outcome, if anything he'd probably come away with egg on his face.

4. Could be but it all seems to point to the same conclusion, at least in my mind it does, that Trump has some serious character flaws.

 

I for one am curious to see how Trump supporters will weave human torture and oppression of science into their narrative.

 

Future historians are going to look back at all this "alt" nonsense and wonder what the hell we were playing at.

The sooner it blows over, the better.

If he's doing this on purpose then he's been doing it since the beginning of his candidacy, it sucks all the oxygen out the news cycle and takes up column inches on a totally pointless story like crowd size instead of wall to wall How much regulation cuts?!? Erm why is the SCOTUS a putin chum?!? OIL pipeline?!?!

If that's the case the report will probably get buried in 2 years time.
