I think that you are totally misreading Russia's take on Trump.

I think "Left" and "Right" are unhelpful stereotypes. As you say, people all have their own take on them (and associated baggage). This is why they end up in the same category on the graph. You are, btw, suggesting that being free from ideology is a good thing. I think it's a bit more complicated than that.

 

Well if certain people treat being a white male like they have some kind of original sin I can see how that might follow.

With regards to there being 48% of the population that failed to vote; Part of that is because, AFAIK, Voting day is not a national holiday in America. Personal circumstances may preclude people from being able to vote, and, for whatever reason, leave them unable to Participate.

It's still going to be very interesting to see what comes, also rather a bit scary, but hopefully it won't go completely off the rails, what with it being and Entirely Republican government with no real ability to check their advances.

 

They have some kind of original responsibility. Because like it or not, being a white male still tends to come with privilege. In the past it came with a lot of privilege, which current white males are still coasting on a bit.

Now of course you cannot help it if you are a member of a historically privileged race and gender, but you are still enjoying its fruits. So in the interest of being an egalitarian human being, you have in your own small way some responsibility to give less privileged gender and skin colours a bit of a hand in catching up.

What we see however is a bunch of disenfranchised poor white males being angry that that they have been losing what they used to think of as their privilege. That really sucks hairy donkey balls and all, but what's essentially been happening is that poor white folk in the rust belt of America have been experiencing what it's like to be a black guy or a native American or a woman fifty years earlier. That doesn't mean that they should just suck it up; after all black people or native Americans or women shouldn't have to suck it up either, so why should white males? Everybody should be experiencing the privileges and opportunities that come on the back of their hard work and that of their ancestors. But there does seem to be a sense of entitlement with some white people that it's only suddenly wrong and a problem when it starts happening to them: when they lose what they think of as their privilege: "They (immigrants, women) took OUR jobs" etc. Society didn't seem to need radical change when blacks and women still knew their place, which was one step behind the white males.

White men built western civilization. It's their creation. Other races have built their own and the men in those enjoyed the same standing within their own respective civilizations.

As for white privilege in general that's some regressive leftist idea which fits their narrative of the white race – especially white men – being the enemy and evil doers.

It is very much politically correct and in fashion to hold such views today.


By the way, the attack on white people and white culture in general by the regressive left is precisely what is fueling – if we're unlucky – could turn real nasty. I've said this many many times in the past.

Guess what attributing something like "privilege" to someone based on their skin colour, without any evidence, is called racism.
