One can hardly deal with his/her own problems and yet everybody want simple solutions for problems that concerns everyone. Go figure.

Having seen the compass model here, where left and right principles are also either authoritarian or libertarian, I think the idea of the horseshoe is a poorer expression of that same idea. In fact, the horseshoe has to introduce a sort of second dimension to the linear left/right political dichotomy to explain the similarities between extreme left and extreme right, where as that second dimension is built in much more eloquently into the compass model.

I think the problem with the horseshoe theory is that it really only starts to work once you get to the more extreme ends of the spectrum on either side.
The compass model on the other hand has a much wider application as it can be applied to more moderate views and actions too.

left, right? I think its common knowledge with people that know what they are talking about, to discuss globalism vs. patriotism, left right is out of date.

that's the whole point. trump is true patriotism and highlighting the ills of the nefarious globalists.

guy is coming to the role (president) stating.

zero pay accepted (a dollar is required for legal reasons).
    zero holidays
focus on jobs, health care, economy.

we can all agree Ideally no wars and less offensive posturing coupled with good deals, between all nations, and a respect for all people of all kinds of back grounds, religions.

All these idiots, calling trump a racist when he is nothing of the sorts. are people mad?

You just need to put the constitution first,

And if not first? you better recognize and release the importance of it and respect it else GTFxx....

Legal citizenry adhering to law and order with prosperity for all, good internal and external facing Business and basic respect for law and order.

    Extremely hard to understand.

Lets bash trump and call him a racist.

    Austria is next thank god.

Then the EU is going to start breaking up, there is extreme dissatisfaction.

The problem with the horseshoe theory is that the difference between so called far right and far left is one of the difference between international socialism (Soviet union) and nationalist socialism (nazi Germany ). Either way the results are not nice.

The way I understand it is that it is essentially a warning that no matter what path you follow if you go too far you end up with a totalitarian a**hole screwing things up for everyone.

On the list of people who promised that you also find names like Hitler, Mao, Hirohito, Pol Pot, Stalin...

What utter BS, you do know you can get people on the left who support either globalism or patriotism, and people on the right who support globalism or patriotism.

Maybe you need to think about these things yourself instead of parroting what you've read, just because Marine le Pen said exactly what you just said doesn't make it common knowledge, it just makes it the rantings of a nationalist.

No he's not he's a nationalist, you do know the difference right?

No not mad, just more aware of Trump's history than you are, like when the The US Department of Justice sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to black tenants and lied to black applicants about whether apartments were available, among other accusations.

What you mean like the first amendment?

You know the one that says there is no prohibition on the abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, something Mr Trump appears all to willing to trample over with his rant's on twitter about the SNL sketch and how that the cast of Hamilton must apologise for exercising their free speech.

FYI I'm still waiting for you to answer my retort to you.

I believe he is under the impression that wrong or right everybody has to get behind him because he is President, that his victory should equal some kind of pledge by the American people.

I think Trump fundamentally believes that to be the President is to be the ultimate boss, when in fact they're actually the ultimate employee :)

    Day 1 of Trump presidency:

Pledge of Allegiance changed to "I pledge allegiance to Donald J Trump and the swamp for which he stands, one Nation under Trump, indivisible, with liberty and justice for those loyal to Trump."

And.......Just like the Brexit thread, This one has become a facebook-esque sh*t throwing fest of the greatest proportions.

Still, I suppoose it's better than going out and breaking the law and getting in the way of people trying to earn a living.

You mean like both the EU referendum and the US presidential elections were Facebook-esque ****-throwing fests of the greatest proportions? Farce begets farce, who would have thunk.

This is the new political dialogue now. Get used to it.

What did you expect to happen when the opposition doesn't bring anything other than rb linking conspiracies and gold scams?

Challenge us with some hard to disprove pro Trump stuff from credible sources so we don't just end up having a bit of a laugh.

Lot's of bitching and moaning and Trump isn't even in office yet, keep this up and you'll be unbearable come January.

    @Rainbowbridge
Ditch the Alex Jones show, yeah there's a war on your mind alright, and Alex Jones is waging it.

...and stop the post spree and gloating will ya, you don't have to pile on like an artillery barrage.
